Last Year I ran a Alumacraft 165 Lunker LTD Tiller with a Maxxum 74lb. I could go all day and even the next day If I forgot to charge, and I could knock people over if they were not paying attention on the highest setting.

This year I am using a Ranger 618vs that came with a Maxxum 74lb. Yesterday was disappointing.. Started at 5 AM and around 1 PM the batteries were fried going into the wind. I charge them every night on a three bank charger. One is new, and one is a year old. They are size 27's. Here is a picture of the top of them.

If one of your batteries is bad it will drag the other one down with it. When I need to change mine if one is bad I change both so they are a mated pair. When buying new I'll look for a pair that were manufactured in the same month and year.

The old batteries being replaced get load tested and the bad one is kept on hand for the core replacement and the good one ends up being an extra auxiliary battery or goes in my brother's boat and he runs it till it croaks. With as many things as we have around this place (dairy farm) having a stockpile of old batteries for core exchanges is necessary.
