Location: Maplewood, MN | How much do you think muskies are effected by aquatic plant kills? I never seem to do well once those dreaded orange signs are in the water, I believe that the fish seem to scatter. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? What tactics do you do to put the odds in your favor? |

| Can't stand 'em. Some lakes seem to be a somewhat organized, researched, and targeted approach to the weed "problem"..One metro lake in particular is a mass genocide every year, where whatever they do kills off every form of plant life for almost the entire season. Some shallow cabbage reforms in late fall. This particular lake used to be a nice little Muskie lake with quite clear water. Post Nuke it's a lifeless zone and visibility is usually less than two feet all summer. I'm actually kind of surprised the DNR grants some of these permits at the time of year they do because of the spawn and lack of cover for fry of all species. |
