If I'm getting this right, we can troll at least 1 line on all waters in WI for 2014?

Where did you find this info? I found nothing on the Wisconsin DNR website.

I live and fish muskie in Michigan. I LOVE to cast and at 35 can put in a full day in the fall casting big baits....but I feel it later, as most of us do (unless your 18).... Its great have the trolling option in the arsenal, it's a great tactic in MANY situations. Most importantly for me, it will give me another 20 years in the muskie game when I'm too old to cast. Keep that in mind...

the grey area unless defined will be the number of suckers you can have out while casting when 1 line trolling is legal. bait shops will be against it. I will order some skirts if it passes.

Did you hear about anything else that may have gotten passed Johnnie? The minutes aren't yet on their website and I was wondering about the Green Bay 54" size limit issue. I didn't expect there to be a problem--just haven't heard yet.

Thanks.

I've said it before, but I'll believe it when I see it printed by the WDNR. Wisconsin is renowned for saying one thing and doing another. Until it's printed it's just another 64" musky report...

Good point actually...

As I understand it, even if/when the NRB recommends it to the legislators, it's just that...a recommendation. It must still be approved by them. And while they could certainly just rubber-stamp it, they might not. Remember the Spring bass thing a few years back?

So it's probably a good idea not to get too terribly excited until after the legislative session this Fall.

The DNR would have had this on their site fo sho. It may effect 2014 regs, but they would have had it in their "news" area. As of tonight, zilche.

Did you see the new 54inch rule for GB under the "news" area?

Start on page 7. I love how they base decisions of studies done in the 1980's. And the Vilas County Musky Marathon.

That I'd expect to see in the 2014 regs. A statewide rule change is a totally different matter.

Also, where's the link for these new regs? Is it word of mouth or actually written somewhere besides the Musky Hunter webpage?

So I emailed the DNR yesterday to clarify.........THIS IS NOT A RULE/REG YET.

"At their latest meeting, the Natural Resources Board approved motor trolling statewide (with either three baits or one bait) that would include Vilas County. The rule proposal needs to be approved by the legislative committee on natural resources. If approved, it would take effect in spring 2014."

Not a rule yet....but very few rule changes are approved by the Natural Resources Board and not approved by the Comm. on Natural Resources.

All the more reason to believe it when the DNR prints it.
