I just bought a new sonar/gps. It is far superior to my old lowrance x135. Debating on where to put it. 75% of the time I'm casting , current setup is the 135 in back (tiller) with an old lowrance h2o gps next to it and an old piranha humminbird up front. I was thinking the new unit would go in front to make it easier to following contours lines with gps. But now I have second thoughts, as the new unit is sweet, and could be used for navigation and turned towards the front to view while casting. What would you do?

It might also depend on where you have your transducers mounted? When i'm on my trolling motor, i like to see what is directly below me not what is directly below the back of the boat. Maybe use 2 different ducers (1 on the bow, 1 in the stern) turn your unit when you are up front.

I have my best one in front, but both the front and the back have GPS. Its a hard decision. Eventually I would pick up a cheaper one with a gps to put in the back and have your best one in front.

If your trolling motor has universal sonar, just buy a second power cord and move it when necessary, convenient not really functional absolutely.

Use your old gps to get to the spot then your new one to fish it (front).

Thanks everyone. I'll go with my original thought, put it up front. I'm up there so much anyway.
