| When it comes to crankbaits, do you prefer one with a tight wiggle or a wide wobble? If you use both, in what situations do you use them?[:)] |

Good question, and it really got me thinking. I guess I have never realized it before, but I definitely use the wider wobble cranks when the water is colder and murkier, and the fast "tight" running cranks when the water is warmer, and the fish are more aggressive.
I seem to associate the tighter wobble to speed, especially when I have to do the "T" word, trolling! Not my favorite, but it is necessary some times when we get a lot of suspenders.
Anyway, hope this helps. This has just been my experience with "wobble" over the last ten years or so!

| I use a tight wiggle in tight quarters (shallow water) and with a FAST retrieve.
I love a wide wobble (like a 10" Jake) in wide open spaces like when chasing clear water suspendos. I feel the flash can call fish from long distances.

| I'm no pro but I prefer wide wobble. I feel pike relate to a wider wobble and I have read in many articles that muskies have the same tendency to relate to lures that have a wider wobble.
I would use lures with little wobble like a bomber 17A or 16A when pike are slow, when they need a subtle lure to get a strike. Usually this is after a cold front has passed or when temperatures drop fast. Also, in the crystal clear waters in Sweden pike tend to relate to lures with a small wobble such as zalts and bombers. Wide swinging lures just didn't get as many strikes as wide wobble lures. Also, neutral buoyancy was a big factor for lures with a small wobble. The slower they rose, the better they caught. |

I and I say "I" like them with a nice big wobble but that doesn't mean the Muskies do. I catch a ton of fish on Rapala Shad raps, a piece of wood with hardly any woble and no rattles. Go figure!!!![;)]
I like a big wobble when I'm twitching or trolling in deep water, I think the bigger wobble atracts more attention, and a tight wobble when I'm twitching, casting or trolling tight to cover like weeds or stumps.
Just goes to show you that they all have their applications!!!! |

| I like a tight wiggle for day time fishing and a wide wobble for night fishing. Most of the time I run straight baits during the day and jointed cranks at night or low light conditions. I also use the wide wobble or jointed cranks when the water clairity is poor, rivers for example.[;)] |

| I use both, I like a tight wiggle for twitching and early season trolling. I preffer the wide wobble for deeper trolling and especialy fall trolling for fattys.
Jlong funny how we look at things as I see a 10 inch jake type as a tight wiggle and a believer type for a wide wobble. The way I judge it is when you see a bait that is coming at you a jake may roll but no side to side or tail swing like a believer. [:sun:] |
