I would just like to say that I think this is a great site with a great Message board. I grew up in Wisconsin and have been fishing Musky for over 20 years. Moved to Louisville Kentucky in '93 and fished " THE CAVE " twice in '94 and not again till last fall ( when i bought a new boat ) Hard to find people in the greater Louisville area who are true " DIE HARD MUSKY NUTZ!! " Anyways, seems like a great bunch of people hang out her and I'm looking forward to being a part of the FUN!! [:p] []

Welcome!

Everyone has an open book around here and we all want to become better muskie fisherman no matter how many fish we have caught. There is not a dumb question out there...just questions that need answers![:)]

I don't know if I will be able to get back to Ky this year. This may start an arguement, but here it goes anyway, if I were you, I would hit Green River, it is only an hour and half south of you. I have fished both Cave Run and Green River and I feel Green River is alittle better. Good Fishing, Al[]

Thats interesting that you think Green is better than the Cave. I've only fished the cave, and I've been told that there is better fishing at the cave. What do you know about Green? Do you fish the timber like the Cave? Is there any weeds at Green? Thanks for your help!!

Green River actually has no weeds unfortunately. I would start early in the year late Feburary, and March depending on the weather. At times there is a good pre-spawn bite. If for the heck of it in March you can fish from shore right behing the State Marina. There is like alittle bay more like a pond, that use to have the "Nick Name PayLake," because at times on the weekends you have guys almost shoulder to shoulder. You actually did better from shore casting thundersticks and rattletraps from the shore than from the boat. This usually only good for a couple of weeks period from end of Feb. to First week of April. Then there is a cove, opps. I better stop or you guys are going to take away my honary red-neck status that took me 12 years of coming down there to earn!!!! Anyways some good guides are Greg Thomas and Bill Jarboe (but I think he is going to retire). By the way I am not kidding about paylake!!!! Also, ask Tony Grant where he caught his biggest fish last year!!!! You may ask why share information and I say why not (you Mn. guys listening). Finally good place to stay would be Lucky Vista Motel. God bless, Al[:praise:]

b8, go ahead and sign up; like Glenn Campbell so wisely sang, "By the time you get to Phoenix...she'll be GONE!"....strange song actually, that type of female action is prevalent in any part of the country; better to have them come see you![;)] Got a cousin in Tempe, anywhere near there?

Musky Alan- Thanx for your input. I'll definatly try Green this year. Its always a lot of fun (work) to learn a new body of water. I'm not so much concerned about finding the best areas to fish as I am with dropping my lower unit while cruising around not knowing the water.

Thanx for your help!!!

Sponge- I'd love to fish with you guys, but I have to defend my title w/ my dad at the member guest golf tournament. We took 1st place last year! Anyways, they live in Goodyear, AZ. About 40 min west of the airport in Phoenix. Good luck @ the cave. I'll give you an update on hot lures and presentations b4 you come down. I'm already dieing to throw the Triple D down in the timber!! Should be an awesome bait!!!

mavmskyb8 - most of the folks on this site are upstanding models of how a human bean should behave. But not all of them. A very few members spend a lot of time and energy trying to find clever ways to profit from the other members. I keep a detailed list of observations that I will share with you, but, like the pharmaceutical companies, I must at least cover my list's research and development costs. So, if you will send me $49.95 I will tell you who you need to watch out for and the tricks they'll try to pull.

Send cash or money order (no personal checks!) to..

Ranger Rick Fox
Da Yoop, USA

and I'll send you the list.

Trust me.

By all means, send Ranger the money. You should do it today.

Oh, the $49.95 is all inclusive. Part of the customer satisfaction program here at Just Ranger Musky Fishing Club of North America (JRMFCNA).

Say, did I mention that my list includes all kinds of wild speculation on the personal habits of many of the regulars? It's like reading the National Enquirererer.

Hey Glen, I stand corrected. I should have said it took me 9 years to find a die hard musky nut. Where were you the other 8 1/2?[]

Mav and 'soxalot,

You here, too? Glad we traded e-mail! Yes, I'm in Louisville, and this year have my own boat, a Tuffy Renegade. Mossfrog is my brother and he has an Esox Mag. We've been fishing muskies for a couple of years, and are definitely way too involved with it, to the consternation of friends and family. We'll look forward to getting together with you guys for a beer, then fishing. Mossfrog is in the Bahamas right now... the #$#@$#%.

Hey Sputterbug,

That sounds great. I've only been fishing for muskies for a couple of years also, but I am severely addicted. I bet I have close to $1000 worth of lures. I have a lot of them shipped to my Dad, so my wife doesn't know when I'm buying them. I don't think she understands it. I look forward to meeting over a few Buds. I'm sure Mav will be up for it as well.
