Has anyone tried the new Nacl's yet? Blew out the antireverse again on my Luna and I'm tired of fixing these. Was looking to get one of these but I don't know if I'll like or get used to the handle. Any opinions on these yet?

thanks

Very nice reel. I have the 60 HS. Use it for most of my baits.

If I had to go do it again is to for the 50, maybe my hands are small.

Mine came with both handles btw.

I have the Nacl 60 5.4:1. Absolutely love it. With the power handle, DC10's are easy. Have not tried it with the double paddles though. I heard there was an issue with the reel engaging mid-cast with the power handle, but I have not had an issue with it. Worth every penny.

Love my revo toros. One is a NaCl 50 hs I like the newer handles. Love all my toros have a couple 60s and a couple 50s and I prefer the 50s they fit my hands better and still hold plenty of line.

I've never heard of anyone producing aftermarket gears... drag washers, bearings, yes, but not gears. If Pikemaster doesn't chime in shoot him an IM.

NO ONE makes after market gears for the Toro Reels, U have to go to ABU for them. Toro has a 4.6, 5.4 and a 6.4 Gears.

With the HS and the power handle can you burn dbl-10's anything like a Tranx?

I'm curious how guys are liking the Revo HS with big blades as well.

No doubt a Tranx PG with 30" per turn but a 4.6 gear ratio will bring in the  big tens with less effort, but if the Revo HS and Power Handle can also bring in 31" per turn with a little more effort... it might be a more versatile reel.... as I don't want to burn small blades with a giant real such as the Tranx.

Revo HS is a terrible 10's reel - you would need a power handle 10" long to give you leverage to pull 10's comfortably....Ive seen new Tranx going for $350 recently. PG is not less effort its basically no effort - get one :)

Completely agree. Honestly, 13s with a PG feel like 8's with my Calcutta TE. PG is a beast.

My friends love their Tranx, they fish them over every reel that they own. Once and if they ever make one in left hand retrieve then I'll be switching all of my reels to tranx

I am not asking about the Tranx.  I"m asking about the Revo.  The Tranx is a tank and I'm looking for a sports car.

You kind of did. IAJustin gave you answers for the Revo. A 400D could be a good in between for you. Small yet not too bad pulling 10's.

Find a Tranx to try before you buy or you may be the next one on the buy and sell... This is just my opinion but the Tranx is very awkward in the hand. Revo Toro 60 5.4 has to be as comfortable to fish with as you can get. Revo 5.4 60 is about the most comfy reel for everyday fishing, even pulling 10's. 6.4 would be a stretch for 10's but would work for short stints. Definitely an awesome jerkbait, small bait speeed reel. I would gladly take the ergonomics of the Revo vs. the feel and pricetag of the Tranx. Tranx just doesnt live up to the hype IMO, aint afraid to say I took a hit selling mine... Jlong- giant reel is an understatement...

The Revo NACL 5.4:1 is a great reel. I use the high speed for spinnerbaits, top water, and cranks, and the 5.4 for the larger stuff.

I have a 400D strapped to a Migizi. Good reel, in fact a great reel, but not as ergonomic as the Revo.

jlong - I think you'd like the nacl 6.4 (or 5.4) for big blades. I know I do. In the past I've used just about everything including a trinidad, 700te, 7000 high speed, and others, and I'll tell you the nacl w/ the power handle on the long setting gives up NOTHING to those other reels. I've only briefly tried a tranx pg, and it was good, but not better, and too big for my liking.

Just picked up a 6.4:1. Love how it handles 10s and plastics. However, I'm having the problem mentioned earlier where the reel engages mid cast (I have the longest power handle on). It seems strange that there's no counterweight on it. Any advice?

Face the handle towards the water before you cast, or keep your thumb on the button pushed down most of the time.

After you point the reel handle down, rotate your wrist (if right handed with a 60/50 reel the handle it should be up and if right handed and the reel is a 51/61 the reel handle should be down). Not only with this help prevent engagement but also it will be easier on the wrist after a long day of casting.

Yep keep the handle back towards your body or the butt of the rod. I keep it there and it's never engaged once.

And that's the proper way to cast a baitcaster anyway.

How big of a job is it to switch gears? I've got 3 toros with the 5.4 and love them but hate my 4.6 winch. Could I put 5.4 gears in it? Thanks

Yes U can gear your reel with any of the Toro gears, about $55.00
pm me or email [email protected]
I will need the # that is on the bottom of the reel foot from the reel U have.

Just used my nacl 6.4 with the power handle for pulling cowgirls for a few weeks. Amazing. I didn't buy it for that purpose but tried it and liked it. Beats my 400d by a lot. Fewer backlashes too.

So for those who previously owned a Toro HS or Winch and now have owned, or used a NaCl, would it be fair to say that for the most part the NaCl is preferred? I am looking to add one my HS reel and am split between trying the new NaCl and getting the 'older' Toro HS. I have been very pleased with my current revo reels.

I have a revo toro hs in 50 & 60 and a toro winch 60 for the last few seasons and added a NaCl 50 hs. The NaCl is my favorite. Love the new grips and put the power handle on the winch along with swapping to 5.4 gears in it and it's awesome for big blades, much faster than the winch and pulls just as easy.

How much of a difference does the power handle make? So far I still have the regular paddle on and love it. Might screw on the power handle and give it a try

No issues blowing out the gears. You get dirt on them I 1st use solvent on them, then give them a real good blow to rid the solvent. Use this method for all ratio reels using all lures.
