These two lures look very similar - are they essentially the same thing?

They basically do the same thing. In the past at least, I've found believers to be made with much tighter tolerances and as a result were easier to get to run right. Also had a few leaking swim whizzes. Don't know if ol' homer's QC has improved since then.

I have friends that troll a lot and say they like the SW more. If the Swim Whiz were bigger maybe I'd use them more. As far as Jakes vs Grandmas...Grandmas hands down! No contest in terms of productivity there.

I was thinking same thing and I see that Believer is little lighter than Swim Whizz.

Swim Whizz 8 inch jointed 2.4oz
Believer 8 inch jointed 1.9oz

I guess that Believer have little more hallow inside than Swim Whizz. I think that Swim Whizz is first by Homer LeBlanc Original.

Swim Whizzs require more tuning and don't have the speed or turning tolerances that Believers do, in my experience.

Swizz is a custom lure . Several others around made by custom bait makers both US and Canada.
For the comment that Drifter copied Homer's original : Homer copied a lure very closely himself to develop the Swim Whizz. Original lure was made pre World War 1 .
I have too many Whizzes , Believers and a few of the solid resin customs. They still catch fish . Muskies are lazy and won't watch fishing shows or read MH . Delivery of the R&H catalog is problematic too.

Your mixing these up a swizz is a swizz hand made out of wood in 16", a swim whiz comes as big as 13" that's it

Their website lists 6 and 8 " sizes. I've seen a lot of 13" believers, but never a 13" whizz. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong today though

On a simple note, Believers have rattles, Swim Whizz do not. That holds true on at least the ones I own.

Older Believers have no rattles new ones can be ordered without for additional cost. Never understood why 81mg asprin cost 3 times as much as 325 mg, Or salt free, fat free, or susar free products cost more. My sugar Free caffeine free calorie free cola should be free there's nothing in it.

If they weighed in at about 4 1/2 oz I bet the trolling action could be tremendous as erratic motion can result from a highly buoyant lure for the weight. plus they would still be have a reasonable weight for casting.
Lots of potential here.
What was the action like when trolled?
Any idea if there will be a jointed model?
