Location: Lebanon,Mo | It's a new fuel line/primer bulb,I can smell fumes from the fuel tank vent, fuel goes in fine. Only thing i can think is maybe a pinched line under deck from tank to fuel/water filter system. The orginal fuel/bulb line i replaced as well as the fuel/water bracket and filter(orginal bulb on old line never went flat). Im thinking i pulled on the line from the tank too hard and maybe kinked it ?? The bulb expands back out after sitting for 10-15 minutes after i kill the motor...

Fuel pump is on motor, thats was causes the bulb to go flat from fuel being pulled. Motor runs awesome...thinking maybe i got a bad bulb plus it's a generic from BPS and may not handle a 200hp Yamaha fuel injected 2-stroke....who knows. |

Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Hiya,
If you have a separate portable tank (or one you can borrow to use), here is how you can narrow it down..
Hook up to the portable and see if it goes flat there as well. If it does, you know it is not your on-board fuel tank and could be the bulb itself.
Second, take a second line with a different bulb and repeat the test again on the portable. If the bulb goes flat, it would be motor related. If it doesn't go flat, it will be the bulb itself.
My gut instinct is you have a bad bulb as there would need to be some sort of restriction to cause the flat bulb. Nothing that I know of on the motor could cause this...

Location: Lebanon,Mo | Thanks for the info Steve. I narrowed it down to the bulb...everything else checks good. I bought a BPS 3/8" universal fuel line/bulb kit and the bulb is too "soft" for anything 200hp and up. Went to the Yamaha dealer and bought a buld designed for that size of motor and should fix the problem. This bulb is alot "stiffer" than the universal I purchased the first time. |
