| I am happy with my scuba divers, they have caught me fish trolling. I have a couple 5"'s that they run good when you put them in the water. After a few minutes they float to the top of the water and have no action.
Do I need to coat them with fingernail polish? I assume they are absorbing water cause they are made of wood. |

Location: NE Ohio | Sounds like they just need to be tuned. Fish can knock them out of whack pretty quick. There are several in my box that have holes in them (from hooks rubbing or teeth) that still run straight, so I don't think that absorbing water has anything to do with it. Just my opinion, though. |

| I don't know what else to do to them. I have them tuned to run straight, but then after a couple minutes they float to the top. I may try a split ring on the front and see if that helps. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Do they float to the top or do they blow out? If they float to the top, then kick the outboard back in gear. It they blow out, then you need to tune them. They may be getting out of tune if they absorb on one side of the bait more than the other. Drying them out and sealing them will keep from this happening over and over. |

| Yeah, I check the lure before I throw it out to make sure its running straight. after being in the water for 15-30 min they then float to the top and are all over the place. What do I spray on them to seal? a can of thompsons water seal? |

I am only trolling around 3.5-4mph. I will snap a keel weight to the front of the 3' flurocarbon leader. |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | I know what you're going through. I have these 3 plastic cranks that are doing the same thing. They ran great for a long time then all of a sudden I look back and they're rolling on the surface. Reel them up watch them next to the boat and they run true and nothing out of the ordinary, let them back out and the line runs straight back, everything looks great and 5 minutes later back to the surface. One lure had a ton of fish on it and I had to tune it a few times but the other two just had troll time. Granted I didn't spend a ton of time trying to get them back in action as I was up on LOTW for a trolling trip so maybe I'll get out once the ice is off and work with them. Kind of think the one may have been acting up for a while and could have attributed to all the fish action.
Been watching this thread for ideas. I tune a lot of baits and never had one's like these baffle me so much. |

Location: Appleton | One other thing to try while tuning a scuba aside from moving the line tie left to right is to pull the wire down below the lip just a tad to help with tuning them. I own a pile of them and many have hook rash and no sealer on them. I haven't had any I couldn't tune one of those 2 ways. Hope that helps. |

I troll A LOT and the rod has not caused any of my baits to blow out. You really can't believe everything you read on the Internet... |
