I'm surprised it couldn't get it down. I've seen the muskies in my tank eat bigger food vs. body length in the past without a problem.

Treats:

Do they always eat head on like that in the tank or do they T-bone it too?

When I had a tiger musky, it would eat anything and everything. Eat em' head on, tail first, t-boned sideways. Very cool to see them chase down and take down small crappie minnows at will. Now I have a walleye, perch, and crappie that all have there own "hunting" habits.
