Ok, so I've heard salmon and trout guys swear by these over the years. What I'd like to experiment with this year is to head out to a super clear-cisco based lake and troll a bulldawg behind one of these and a dipsy-diver. You'd think the flash and vibration from the cowbell would get the fish's attention and hopefully seal the deal with the bulldawg. Anyone ever try this or is this just more of a trout/salmon thing?

So......... is a cowbell a salmon or trout bait of some sort?
Or are you actually talking about trolling a cowbell in front of your bait?

It's basically a 2-3' leader with 4 willowleaf blades that are intended to imitate baitfish. Google up luhr Jensen cowbell troll and you will see what I mean. Dodgers/flashers can also be trolled in front of the lure and they're flat and shiny like a spoon to give off flash and also impart erratic movement to the lure. I'm thinking this could be great in front of a bulldawg but curious to hear if this has been done already.

What size wire comes on it? I looked it up, but couldn't find the specs for the wire. It's similar in concept to using an Alabama rig with some blades instead of baits. I haven't seen an Alabama rig where I would trust the components to hold up to musky though.
