| Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about having Thorne Brothers extend the handles 3 or 4" on some of my St. Croix Legend Tournament rods. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had this done? Did the the handles turn out nice and clean? How has the durability been? Were you happy with the end result?

| Best $25 bucks spent on rods that need a little more grip, they do a great job blending the cork. |

Location: Eagan, MN | I've never had them extend a production rod, but until recently, if you wanted one of their customs longer than 8' (I have several) then they would use an extension. You absolutely cannot tell that it's in there and the durability is great. Now that they are using the 9' predator blank, you don't need an extension unless you want to go longer than that. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I do it to all of mine. Try having them put a little weight in the butt as well on any rod you use to throw heavy baits.

Location: Pewaukee, WI | A few years ago they re-did a handle for one of my rods and it came out great. I had them do the whole handle with Simcork and lengthen it to 18" |

Location: Land of the Musky | I have sent some customers to them and have not gotten one complaint yet. They will do a great job for you. Just make sure your warranty does not get affected though. Many warranties will be void if you modify a rod. Just an FYI and some find out the hard way...

James, I called St. Croix and talked to one of their reps. The rep basically told me that if an issue/warranty claim with the "altered grip" rod is not a result of the changed grip, I would still be covered under the Silver Star plan-zero charge(except shipping) replacement plan. For example, while casting, if the rod tip should happen to break I would still be covered. However, the rep said that if an issue with the rod should happen to arise as a result of the altered grip, I would have to pay the $75 with the Gold Star plan to get the rod replaced. |

Location: Grand Marais, MN | anyone ever had them do an extension on a split grip rod? Figure it might look a little goofy, not that a guy like me cares.
don't like st croix split grips, I'd rather the butt end cork be a bit longer for comfort and convenience for figure 8s and stuff. |

Add what feels right to you. 3, 4, 5, 6" or what feels good while casting.
I would think that bout 6's is the most they would add. |
