| Who trolls jerkbaits? I am talking about anything from suicks and bobbies - bulldawgs and super d's - to hell hounds and phantoms and everything in between. Do you have much luck with any of them? I have tried it a few times with no success. Just looking for others thoughts on this. |

Location: WI | I caught a 37" on a 12" Suick last fall. 40' of line, weighted model. I do about 3 twitches working the rod tip towards me, then let the tip go back so the lure stops and rises. Pretty fun when you go to twitch forward and there's weight!
Spent some time trolling Bobbies too, but no action on those yet. Wish cranks didn't pull so hard, I bet a lot of fish follow and I've caught or lost some nice ones while grabbing the rod to reel in while trolling. |

Location: Racine, Wi | I've trolled suicks quite a bit. You get a good workout doing that for sure, but the fish usually crush them. I tend to troll pretty fast when trolling a pull bait like a suick. They get pretty erratic, and if you tune them right, you can get them to shoot off to each side, and then in the middle. I continuously pump the bait when trolling like this, and tend to run 4-5 mph covering weed flats and righ on the edge of weeds. As I mentioned, hang on to your rod though as they tend to crush the bait when trolling like this.

Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I have always wanted to try this technique. If I am able to fish this season I am going to attempt at more trolling. May mean smaller numbers but I needs all the tricks I can get for the long run.
But does anyone troll gliders? |

Location: Racine, Wi | You'd be surprised how many fish will eat this, but as I mentioned above, it takes a toll on the body to do (but of course, I a tall skinny guy, so maybe I just need to pump some iron lol).
As for gliders, troll those too. I run Slammer Drop Belly gliders every spring over the emerging weeds. I typically run them off of boards as the boards hitting waves tend to give them more action as they bounce across the waves.
Key thing with gliders is they have to have an inherent side to side action on a straight crank (which is why I use the Slammers). Then depending on the weed height, I'll typically throw 1-2 ozs of lead in front of the leader to get it down.
One very important thing with trolling gliders. Use braided line and keep a little tighter drag. For some reason, I used to lose a lot of fish when I first started running them. I tighten up the drag a touch, and problem solved. |
