| I'm going up to lake vermillion this summer. Am I able to camp on any of the islands? |

| It's been a while, but I know there are designated National Forest campsites on the Northeast end. If you get a map they're pretty well marked. That might be your best bet.

| Thanks for the info,I suspected that was true about the NF land but have never fished this lake. |

| Hinsdale Island has a few campsites on them but from what I've seen it's very rocky and I wouldn't want my boat pulled up on rocks overnight. Small boat or canoe you would be ok |

Location: Wausau | There are many options, but most are very rocky. If you're lucky you can find one tucked into a bay. I'd suggest on spending your first few hours preparing a boat dock. A camp saw/axe, rope and nails will do the job. Then you can drive your boat onto the cross logs and be safe.

| Some of the resorts have tent sites too. |

Location: North Fork, Flambeau River | Some of the camping sites that I have stayed at are on the Tower side of the lake. We put in at the old Moccasin Point site, and headed to shore directly west of Pine Island, and south of the portage for Trout Lk. Plenty of room for boats and a pontoon. |

I've always wondered about this. Short of bring an extra battery, how do people deal with this? Solar chargers? |

Location: Wausau | I've brought a generator and 200 feet of cord. Locked to a tree as far back as possible. |

| Just a note it's illegal to cut live trees on State and Federal land without a permit. I'd suggest if you make this sort of thing you use some dead wood. Plenty of that around. |

Location: Wausau | The sites I visit the most have a DNR cut/waste site for dead trees and brush. Yet, you still have to cut to length. Otherwise, as suggested, look for fallen trees. Either way, if you are camping on an island, have a plan for boat parking and electricity.
State sites are first come-first-serve. |
