| This rod and reel combo will be used Exclusively for retrieving double cowgirl juniors at high speeds, just below "burning speed". It must be a split grip rod, and I was thinking the Mojo Musky 8"6" "big blades" rod would be appropriate? thanks!

| When using 10's I prefer my hg with a ti xxh. If using the xh I feel I am fighting the rod instead of concentrating on burning. |

You already have a $500 reel and now you are going to complain about how much your combo costs???????????????????? |

Wrong !!! The right rod will make any reel sing and the wrong rod no matter what the reel and U will have backlashes, and not a fun day casting. |

The right rod still won't help eliminate anti reverse issues, gear, and drag issues with inferior reels.
I prefer to have nice trouble free reels and pair them with TI rods. |

| X3 on the Predator or Big nasty, both excellent choices. I have both. I also have a TI XXH and while I like Jame's line of blanks, they're an entirely different kind of action. The predator & St C L Blanks have much faster tips & feel, and IMHO are perfect for burning big blades.
My TI is used for bigger cranks/rip baits. Also agree with Pikemaster.

If he has a tranx pg its not a inferior reels so why not pair it with great rod |

| Guest - 4/13/2013 8:32 PMAMEN,anyway ti rod quality is no1,but if the guy want to pay more for just a name and nothing more than he can.that being said i have never seen a musky rod causing some backlash, but i have seen a lot of operator error
As said many times on these boards.. Every one should buy what they can afford, and be happy & enjoy. Nothing wrong with a TI. I have one and it's handled what I wanted it to. With that being said.. I always get a laugh out of the comments " if a guy wants to pay for nothing more then a name... he can"
Really? I'm glad my Predator & Legend sticks are just "names" with no beneficial features/performance. LOL
What I would like to know, when those comments come up... Are these people who actually used those "Name Brands", or.. Are these folks who chose to spend their money elsewhere (nothing wrong with that), and are salty towards anyone who purchased a Predator or St Croix?
Never mind, I think I know the answer. |

| Wouldn't the Slower PG series Tranx be better on the application you are trying to achieve? I was thinking of getting one for just throwing double 10's on a slingblade rod. Should I buy the PG or the HG, very confused now. thnx JB |

| I already ordered the Tranx HG, and I feel that double 9 blades will be absolutely perfect for it's gear ratio. I don't think I want to use a 9 foot rod though, I used a okuma 9'3" last year, and I felt like it was was too long. I'd like to find something around 8'6" |

Location: Almost Heaven | Hey guys, you know that money is no issue when it comes to "boy toys". Just ask the wife and she will let you get anything you want. Just tell her it's good therapy. On a real note, I can not figure out how all those muskie fisherman 30 years ago even caught a fish. They had inferior rods, reels, lures and boats. Now everyone has access to the best and some still can't catch a fish. Go figure!! LOL |

it's realy light weight and quite a bit cheaper than a st.croix or predator
action might be to stiff if you are not burning double tens, some guys like
a heaver tip when doing figure 8's while burning |

| What is the differences between Mojo musky 8'6" heavy and legend tournaments sling blade? All i see is that the sling blade has a 2 inch longer foregrip and weighs 0.8 ounces less. |

Location: Pewaukee, WI | I wouldn't skimp on the rod! This is something your going to use for a LONG time! The Big Nasty or XH Preditor would be a good action for what your looking to do with it. I had Thorne Bros build me a Big Nasty last year and it's one of my favorite rods to throw. If the standard St. Croix rod feels good to you than buy it, but the nice thing about a Thorne Custom Rod is you get what YOU want in handle and fore grip length, Eyelets, tip and action. The price is not that much differant to have it built to your spec.'s. I know you said you wanted a split grip but on the last rod they built me I had the Butt flaired out and from now on all my rods will have that.
Have fun and when your done It will be worth it! |

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | If you don't want nasty cause of it being 9' get the sling blade at 8'6". He's fine with the tranx hg for cowgirl jrs and I'd be using that reel on nasty for a lot of other baits also. The mojos are still nice rods but you will deffinetly enjoy the legend series. I had a couple premiers and got one of our sons a mojo and liked them all but after I got my top n tail I was apsolutely hooked on the legends. I also prefer the split grips. |

| If you have the budget and are, as you said, jsut tossing DCG, here is a niche rod to cosider: 9'6" Heavy Predator with 1" trimmed off the tip ofthe blank. I own this rod. Figure 8s are a dream at this length and it loads up and launches DCG with ease. This is often overlooked, a lot of those beefier powered rods will not load up well with the relatively light weight DCG. That makes casting less accurate and more of a chore. Also, as pikemaster stated, backlases happen...
This style of Predator is hands down the best Cowgirl rod I've ever used.

| I would NOT recommend the Sling Blade for a speed reel like the tranx..tip is way too soft you'll simply be fighting the tip with the speed of these reels... go with a Big Nasy or TI XXH or something with a stiffer tip... |

Does the musky mojo Hvy power rod that is rated for 2-6 ounce lures have a soft tip just like the sling blade? or is it stiffer? |

If it's the 8'6" model then it will be simular to the sling blade. If you jump to a 9' heavy like big nasty it will be stiffer. |
