Without getting into the SCIENCE or WATER COLOR or CONDITIONS aspect of this question, In 2002 what did you catch the most fish on? Rattles or non? Just curious! Handy
NON-RATTLES by a big margin for me!

If your talking crankbaits only I would say with rattles. If overall lures I say without.
But biggest fish were without. [:sun:]

I did better on lures without rattles. Even in the darker water.

It's funny just the other day I was thinking about this and remember when finding a lure with rattles was a rare find. Now it seems that all lures have rattles and finding them without rattles is a rare find. Maybe they are now getting used to lures with rattles????? God bless.

This year I did best with rattles, but that was all on the river here or in Canada. Got my 4 biggest fish on jointed depth raider with rattles and a 10" jake with rattles. i did however have tough luck in northern WI with rattling lures this year for some reason, and I din't take notice soon enough. My buddy had to crack a couple fish on rattless baits before I put it together.

I think that every lure rattles, whether they are built in or not. The motion of the lure causes the hooks to strike the body creating a rattling. Lures have been rattling since they were first invented.

Rattles won out this year, trolling and casting. I did catch fish trolling and casting with non rattling baits too but most were on rattling baits.

Hey Jeff...

I would have to say non-rattles in my boat... But in the interest of being fair, the vast majority of the baits I use don't have rattle in them.

Best,

Wood twitching minnow without rattles, working properly, drive wild every fish that swim.
No exceptions for 2002.

No rattles seemed to be the prefered selection in my boat last year.
