Subject: LT Top N Tail for WTD baits?

Hello everyone,

The LT Top N Tail gets a lot of positive feedback for being a great topwater rod. It's ideal for prop baits and such. What I'm wondering is: Does anyone use their Top N Tail for small to medium size(up to 6.5" Viper) Walk the Dog type topwater baits? At 8'0 in length, the rod is not overly long(reducing water slap) for working the rod tip down to impart action on a Walk the Dog type lure. Being a medium-heavy action, I wonder if the rod is on the light side for this fishing style. Do many prefer a heavy or extra-heavy action for Walk the Dog type lures? Or will the LT Top N Tail do the job?

Thanks

The Top N. Tail could do the job with smaller WTD's, but a H or XH would be a much better choice. The 7'6" XH "The Jerk" would be a better choice for that appication in the Legend series.

I personally am not a big fan of XH jerk bait rods. Don't get me wrong, I think they work baits great, but they fight fish awful! I have used the Long Ranger for gliders and love how it works the bait with its fast action, and still keeps them hooked when our get one on.

I don't like the stiff rods for gliders either, I have been using a MH st croix premier rod for these as well. I think the top n tail would be great for 7" and smaller baits. I'm having a predator H built to 8'3" for those baits and a little larger ones.

I don't throw to many wtd lures but have been throwing phantoms, warlocks, and hellhounds with my top n tail and it works great.
