| Could use some help here. We just got my brothers boat out of storage and some low life broke into it and 3 other boats. They took numerous items including his prop. We dont know the size of it. He has a 2000 21 foot sylvan proselect with a Johnson 150 on it. Does anybody have a boat similar to this so that we have a decent starting point on what prop to try? I think he told me the old prop was a 4 blade stainless |

OMC shooter is a great 4 blade prop, size will be somewhere around 13-1/4 x 23, having 15 splines.
One Word...EBAY. Lots of them on there...
Couple of things to narrow down further if you can. How fast was the boat? In the owner's manual, what is the gear ratio?
Knowing those items, a prop calculator should be able to get you closer to the pitch you had. I can help with that as well if you know those numbers.

| He does not have the owners manual anymore. The boat with a fair load in it would do about 42-44. He thinks rpm's were around 5600. I do remember it was a bullit out of the hole. |

Assuming this is a 2 stroke motor, 5600 would be over the max RPM, which is 5500.
When I ran the numbers, what seemed to match up was a 15 pitch cupped steel prop for the numbers given.
IF that is the case, I would say a 17 pitch would be about right...

| Thanks so much for your help Steve. Would the diameter still be a 13 1/4. Do you think the prop called the Hustler would be a good prop to start with. They seem affordable. Or should he stick with an OMC? |

I have not heard very good things about hustler props. I have not used them myself, so I really cannot say good or bad....
If you do some searching on Ebay, you can get some really good deals for props. There are a few of them on there right now... OMC renegade, Shooter, ballistic 4 blades, etc, in sizes anywhere from 13-1/4 in diameter to 14-1/2 in diameter.
My gut says 14-1/2 x 17 in a renegade or similar design. Something with good trailing edge and tip cupping.

The 13-1/4 shooter models I think might be too small diameter for a 17 pitch (I don't think they even make them that low of pitch). I turn a 13-1/2 x 18 in a smaller hub on my 90hp.
You have options from mercury as well if the prop has an exchangeable hub system in it too..
