| I just got word from a very reputable source that Shimano will release a new sized tranx late this summer/early fall.
It is a scaled down version of the Tranx, the big difference is its in the 400 class reel size. They must have listen to the people complaining about the size of the 500 Tranx
Its still offered in HG and PG, and almost as fast as the standard 500 hg and pg.
But it weights only 14.5oz!!!
He also said it would retail in the $425 range.
here are the specs I got so far
• X-Ship provides an extra smooth retrieve with superior durability
• HEG - a larger drive gear and pinion gear increase cranking efficiency
• SF - Superfree Bearing supported Pinion Gear eliminates friction with spool shaft for better freespool
• E.I. Surface Treatment on the spool protects against corrosion from saltwater soaked braided line
• S A-RB A-RB coating protects bearings from rust in saltwater use
• Super Stopper eliminates handle back play
• VBS Brake System effectively reacts to spool rotation speed to provide ideal brake force at all times during cast
• Dartainium II Drag Washer provides incredibly smooth drag performance with durability
• Ergonomic Power Handle for better leverage
• Model Number: TRX400PG/HG
• Ball Bearings: 7 S-ARB+1RB
• Gear Ratio: 4.5:1/6.5:1
• Line Retrieve per Crank: 31in/42 in.
• Max Drag: 25LB
• Weight: 14.5(oz)
• Made in Japan
The only bad things about this is that this is APRIL FOOLS!!
How many people did i get? |

| You had me going... But all I was going to say was "can you tell me if it's just as ugly as the models that are out there now?"
'Ya know... because you'll catch more fish on a cool looking rod/reel combo, just like you will if your boat matches your truck... |

| anzomcik,
You suck, you totally had me. Good joke and congrats on tricking more people than will admit it.
The interesting thing is that your joke hit home with me. I have been thinking about the Tranx, but haven't bought one. I really like the idea of a 400 series Tranx. It would be a great addition to their product line.

Location: Yahara River Chain | I had a good laugh. I had a buddy ask me if I saw this thread. I said yes, and he starts telling me how good this will be. Man I started laughing and ask, you didn't read it till the end, did you? He says no, why was it a April's fools joke? I had to tell him yes.
Thanks for the laugh Swede!! |

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | The old Tranx has some smoking deals at George's Muskie Expo(MN Muskie Expo). $399.00 one booth even had free line included in the deal.
Best deals at the show were the reels and rod combos.
Must be the rumor about the 400 Tranx got the retailers nervous:) |
