Bait Build off

Subject: Bait Build off

I do have another hobby, I build free flight model airplanes out of stick and tissue; there are some amazingly talented guys at that too.  Sometimes we have a “build off” and a group of us will build the same kind of plane and then post them.  I was BSing with my buddy Jason about vertical Jigging or near vertical jigging lures and thought maybe a bunch of guys here would be interested in doing a bait build off sort of thing.  The idea is we all build the same type of lure and post them on here.  I’ve got some conversion ideas in my head and I know he’s already started on his.

Anybody Interested?

Mike -

When you say "vertical jigging lure" are you referring to a plug type lure like a weighted lipless crank or are you including spoons, lead headed jigs, blade baits, etc. in that category?

Whatever you want to build I guess.  The concept is to give you something to think about and build with your hobby.  If it makes you happy to make a lead jig head by all means please participate.

I’m going to do a conversion of one of my hard body baits, I’m going to name mine Stayfree, “it’s got wings” – probably go with a red head paint pattern named “kotex”…

Years! Lol I saw a P-51 thread go for years and dozens of pages.  There is no time frame I guess, you can always do a search for this thread and show what you made

After reflecting on what I’ve done here, I’d like to point out that this thread is intended for bait makers who like the challenge of building something they haven’t made before.  This is not the thread for the guy who likes to point out that one lure is similar to another.  If you are the kind of guy who thinks, “That guys perch pattern looks like my perch pattern, that a hole copied me” – this thread is probably not for you.

Have fun!
