| Can you pull in Verizon service in the Nestor Falls area without racking up Canadian roaming charges?
For the past few years I've been shutting off my smartphone when I got to International Falls because I didn't need to contact anyone while I was in Canada. Last summer we had some boat trouble. My phone was back in the cabin. My buddies Sprint phone wouldn't grab a signal.
We were bobbing around for about an hour in a part of the lake that few people were fishing. Luckily two guys came along and made a few calls to get us some help. They said they were using Verizon.
I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone who's been in that area while on Verizon

Location: eagle river,wis | I add the canadian package for $20 a month when i'm on lotw and I get service all over the lake.I'm on sabasong bay most of the time.This allows you to operate with your minutes like at home.

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | I was staying in Nestor Falls about 5yrs ago and had my phone along in case of emergency. I had Verizon and was able to get service in some areas but it was really spotty. With new towers going up all the time it's probably improved but I'd check with your provider first and/or add the package that was mentioned above. |

Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I have Verizon and it didn't work in Nestor Falls last year. I even had made the arrangements to have the Canada plan added. I didn't mess with it once I got up there. My brother was on another's phone every day with Verizon until Wednesday when he got his working.
Actually it was nice to not have a phone for once. |

Yes, AT&T has a Canadian plan also . I believe it was around $10.00 a month.
Have used it up in Kenora.

| I get Verizon service at Wabigoon and don't pay extra for it.As long as I don't use data just the phone Im good to go |
