| So I've been looking at the Toro NaCl for a new reel. Is the Toro 50 going to be enough or do I have to get the 60? Pro's and con's of the 50 vs 60? |

Location: Wisconsin | I am pretty certain that the guts are the same in both, so really just line capacity. |

Location: Central Wisconsin | They are the same reel, the difference is width of spool, therefore when you make a cast the diameter of the spool stays larger with the 60 ( because you have more capacity) and that means a slight speed difference in retreive. (Faster with the 60) But the 50 palms nicer unless you have large hands, and that outweighs the slower speed imo. |

Thats what i thought too, so with that being said, will the 50 still have enough capacity for some braid? Not sure what kind of line i'm gonna put on it yet. |

Location: Duluth, MN | I've got 5 Revo Toro's in the 50 size and they hold plenty of line. I wouldn't let the size make a difference. Pick the one that fits your hand/style better. |

| I have both, 80lb on the 50, 100lb on the 60, either size works fine. BR |

You use any backing? or just all braid? |

Location: Central Wisconsin | Definately use a mono backing the same diameter as the braid you're using. |

I use all braid, just put some electrical tape on the spool prior too. BR |

| It's not necessary to put more than 100 yards of braid on, and I often put 75 yards on when I purchase 150-yard spools. Cheap mono or old braid will work fine as backer. |

I would not use old braid, unless its dacron. I would think old braid would slip just as easily as new braid. |

Location: Walker, MN | I have a 50 and a 60 and I actualy feel like the 60 fits my hand better. I too use electrical tape and no backing. I don't sweat the extra braid on there, it gets used when I turn the line around onto another reel and remove any line that looks suspect. |

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I have a 60 and three 50s. I like the feel of the 50s better. I use 80# spider wire ultracast, I put 90 yards of 80 on and use mono backing of the same diameter. Even on the 50 I have a fair amount of mono backing and still hold 90 yards of 80# no problem. I don' even notice any difference in speed between the two reels. |

| im trying to decide between a shimano curado 301 or a toro nacl 51...the reel will be paired with a big nasty and used for ninja tubes, gliders, jerks, smaller baits, spinnerbaits, etc. I know the differences between the two in terms of price, gear ratio, levelwind, etc. but im really just looking for an opinion from those of you who have used both and prefer one over the other. Any input appreciated! |

| I went with the 50, haven't got to use it yet though. main reason was i had a gift card to gander mountain and they don't sell the 60. |

| Have any of you had problems with the power handle engaging during the cast? |

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | I just got mine so I haven't been able to test it on the water. I put the power handle on my winch and was wondering if it would engage also. Playing with it in the house I figured I'd just keep it in a safe position before casting. Steve have you had the chance to test it on the water? It'd be awesome if I didn't have to worry about watching it. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes, and had no issues; I think because the handle is lighter and some of the others out there and pretty well balanced. |

Handle pointing down. It would have to go up to engage and we know its hard to do that. When the handle is pointing up it just has to fall forward to engage and then its sounds like a couple of squirrels trying to get out of a tin can.. |

Location: sneaking out to get on the water ;-) | If they engage on the cast you can keep it with the knob facing your body or the but of the rod so thay when you cast it's already at the bottom and won't engage from the momentum of your cast like it would if it's at the top of your revolution or pointing at rod tip.
