Location: Maple Grove, MN | I don't think there is only one answer here. That will vary for most people on what they doing. For fishing cabbage and rocks, a short armed spinner bait is usually best. If one is fishing reeds, then a longer arm spinner bait may be better. Size is also an issue. Sometimes the fish want something big and sometimes smaller is better.
I think that technique is just as important as the spinner bait. Spinner baits are not the same as in-line bucktails and shouldn't be used as such. I believe that they are best used to get close to or into cover. In other words, to go where other lures cannot without fouling. Letting the spinner baits drop down to the weeds and then banging the weed tops is my favorite presentation.
I throw spinner baits about 90% of the time. I own a lot of different spinner baits and use them based on the conditions.
- For cabbage and rocks, I prefer CJ's because of their high quality construction and short arm lengths. The ball bearing swivels, the high quality wire and hooks, and unique color patterns make the CJs hard to beat. I own about 50 of them in about every size and style ever made.
- For going down deep, I like the big single blade Rad Dogs. I have found that swapping out the barrel swivels for ball-bearing swivels and trying different blades, such as heavy french blades, can make all the difference.
- For downsizing, I like Candy Spins. They don't stand up nearly as well as CJs, but there are days when the fish seem to want something smaller.
I am sure others will have their favorites as well. What is important is to find lures that work for you.

| I like to cast Rad Dogs about 40-50% of my time. Very versatile baits: can use them in about any situations and very weedless. |

Location: nationwide | I use Ghosttails for the most part with old Rabid Squirrel's filling in the rest. Slowly changing over to all Ghosttails as the Rabid's lose their feathers.
About the only place I fish and use spinnerbaits is the Chippewa Flowage

Location: SE, WI. | My Homemade Custom Spinnerbaits. I will never buy another!!! Make sure all your purchased spinnerbaits has a Ball-Bearing swivel. I polled some of the biggest names in the bass industry, their #1, most important part of a spinnerbait is the ball-bearing swivel!!! ;) IMO...they are correct!!! |

but I will say some ace spinners have a different grind to them and seem to trigger fish better |

Location: Central Wisconsin | The Venom Tackle spinnerbaits are built very well. They had a booth at the Wausau show and their baits looked great. Too bad I didn't have more money with, but since they're local I'll be getting some soon! |

Location: Sussex, NJ | Esox Customs made by psv who is on this board. Received two the other day and they look phenomenal. I cannot wait to test them this week. Really quality built baits. And Gerry Carroll is right behind him in my opinion. Both great baits and great guys to work with |

| Rad dogs, pearson's grinder, and M/G's are my favorites. In and around weed cover, I throw spinnerbaits a lot more often than bucktails. Love being able to make contact without fouling. |

Location: Ludington, MI | I actually like the old M/Gs. I don't add any weight. They're perfect for rivers and going over weed tops. |

Location: MN | Before big blades took off Grinders and M&Gs put lots of fish in my boat. I really don't have a good reason why I don't consistently throw them. Seems like everytime I tie on an M&G the fish show up ready to kill it. Haven't spent much time throwing the Rad Dog and CJs but they look great. |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | I did the same after seeing Archies stuff mentioned here. I talked with him about what my intended uses were going to be for the spinners such as running a little deeper at med/faster speeds and he tailored the arm length and angle plus weight and blade to fit my needs. The other for bumping cabbage but still hangs a little deeper/mid-depth. I received great customer service and a couple of sweet looking baits just waiting for the ice to melt.
You can't go wrong with dropping Archie an email and checking out his baits. |

Indeed , Riverrats spinnerbaits are high quality.
Are the Riverrats guys in the business now?
The website was down and I've heard that they don't take orders any more.

| Ace Tandems for me. They are very durable and the paint doesn't come off or the head come loose after an hour of fishing over rocks - unlike some name brand ones I have used. |

Location: Denmark | Esox Custom Tackle are also my favorites. They casts perfect, even into tough winds, and the hookup ratio is awesome. They can withstand heavy abuse, and do not rust, even in salt water.
Form follows function. |

Location: Denmark | On a inline spinner, flash works great due to the vacuum created by the blades, IMO, spinnerbaits with flash are no go, as they do not pulsate as lively as a silicone skirt. But I guess the fish don't know that yet |
