| A guy was telling me the other day that MF members dont know a lot about muskie fishing and dont even spend much time on the water. I beg to differ I said..
Help me prove to this guy that I am right...that MuskieFIRST has multiple good sticks that spend countless hours on the water.
A. Tell me the amount of days you spent on the water.
or
B. How many days a week or month you fish?

|
| My log shows 54 days on the water, which is just about every weekend during the Musky season, in addition to pre-Musky season days for baitfish.

| Jason,
I spend a good part of the year on the water between all my Charters and my own fishing time. Then when I put the boat in storage December 1st, I start stream fishing a few times as well, then bring the boat out by early March to start over again.I'm on the water for at least 150 days a year.

| I don't have my log with me at work but I believe I was on the water fishing just for muskie 52 days this year. It would have been much higher but I only got on the water a few times in July (for muskie) because of a pike trip in Saskatchewan.
My hours per trip is probably pretty low compared to most because a bunch of my trips are 3-5 hour jaunts after work. I tend to get on the water at least three days a week, some up to five.
Most of my fishing is done in May, June and July and August as my job allows for very little time on the water in September and only weekends in October.
I logged 26 legal muskies this year in just over 260 hours on the water, right around a legal every ten hours. |
|
| |
|
| My log shows 42 muskie days on the water, with 22 fish boated 16 being legal fish. I work 7 on 7 off so I have lot's of time to fish. I had many more days on the water just for Whitebass, Walleye, and Smallies. Looking to exceed this number in 2003! |

|
| My log shows 53 days and 252 hours total for the year.

| Well said Jlong.

| I do not log hours myself. I lost track of my catches after the 15th Muskie.
My season starts when Pike season opens here in MN. My season ends when there is ice on the lakes. I fish almost every weekend - The only time I cannot fish on the weekends is when there are family committments. I fish ALOT during the week! On the metro waters, you have to either fish during the week or at night to avoid the recreational traffic. On avg, I must fish 3 days a week (that's just an avg). There weeks on weeks when I fished 4-5 consecutive days. Especially during the moon phases. Some days, I'll have 10 hrs on the water, other days maybe 4 hours. Given those stats, I am looking at roughly 72 days (avg)on the water during the season, but I know it is more!

|
| I estimate about 40 trips at an average of 5 hours per trip for a total of about 200 hours on the water in 2002. 21 muskies boated, with 3 over 40". And I'm not serious like some of the MF regulars. |

|
| I only muskie fish and was out for 108 days last year, most were 10 hour days. |

| I don't keep a log, used to, but got to be a pain in the a$$, I'm too busy fishing and doing other things.
I start out the season keeping track of my catches and all the info then I get caught up in all the excitement and when I get back to my truck I'm trying to remember.......now what time did we get that 42", was that one on the deep diving Slammer or the shallow diver?
I GUESS I'M JUST LAZY!!!!![]
All I know is I fish "EVERY" chance that I get, no matter if it's with clients or by myself!!!! |

| Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't been on here in a while, I have been dedicating most of my time to killing a huge buck lately. Unfortunately, he seems to have learned how to just slide by me out of bow range!!
Muskie fishing though, I ended up with 211 days on the water, and 338 muskies in the boat. That is my best year ever!!

| My season ranges from 3-5 times on the water in a 7 day week. 2-3 nites M-F and I'm usually out both Sat./Sun on most weekends, maybe not for the whole day but there aren't many weekends that go by that I'm not out both days.
The only time I stop fishing allot is when the water temps reach into the mid 80's and above...it's just too hard on the fish.

|
| 65 Days on the water and about 335 hours. I'm not saying how many fish I boated because it reminds me of the pain of how many I lost. |

| I totally agree JLong, it is definetly quality over quantity for me. I am a multi spieces angler and fish a lot of tourneys throughout our short season. I keep at it quite hard for the whole season but have a full time job as well as a part time guide service. I avg. 3 eve. a week and seem to never miss a Saturday or Sunday. So I would put the est. at between 32 to 38 hours per week. from ice out to freeze up. Mid April to Mid November. That is about 7 months @ 4.3 weeks per month @ 35 hours per week = 1035 hours in my fishing season. Yep work sure does get in the way of a guy havin' a good time. No wonder my shoulder is sore by the time season is over. [:sun:] |

| Welcome back Chad Cain!
Jlong you are correct, quality time means alot too.
From what I have seen already, I have more then enough proof for this guy. We have many guys that put countless hours on the water and those that put many quality hours on the water. Some mighty fine sticks for sure, but most of all some of the most open fisherman to sharing information that I know. Even the newbee's that ask questions and bring on discusion are so important. There is always something to learn, that is what makes the sport fun.
MF has no clique or poor quality anglers. Just real anglers helping real people catch muskies and enjoying the sport. |

| Hey Jason,
After checking over my log, I spent around 240 hours on the water for muskies in 2002. That works out to a muskie every 7.2 hours. Average size muskie was around 39.5 inches. I was able to share the boat with a few new people this year and learned alot. It was a great season overall.
I don't think it should matter how much time on the water or how many fish you catch during the year. Everyone on this site has good input.

| I fished muskies 39 days this year. Missed my annual Lake of the Woods trip this year, usually average 45 days a year.

| Me above. I don't know why I wasn't logged in, but I am now.
Less than 36 hours to Sponge Bob's barrage![;)] |

| I would guess around 30 trips...once a week with a week long trip in MN. Not enough for me and too much for the wifey. Gotta get her to read this post. Average of 0.7 fish per trip. I guess in my mind many of the experts visit this site and that is how I see each post. |

| 2002: 132 days on the water, some days 2hrs, other days 15hrs. Don't keep track of hrs; just trips. Lakes with muskies: 69 trips to 14 lakes, 226 muskies. Non muskie lakes: 63 trips to 13 lakes. |

|
