| Are any of you running this boat and if so how is? I'm considering upgrading this spring to a glass boat and the Skeeter looks like a nice set up. Also, how does it handle the rough stuff?

Location: Minnesota | its a great boat.i bought mine last year.it will take on watter in the rough stuff. last fall i was out on mille lace lake it was rough trolling in to the waves i was taking on watter abought every 4 wave i should have not been out there. other then that nice boat i have the f 150 will do 50.8 with just me and gear.last fall was up on vermilion another person and a guid jumped in my boat with 3 of us in the boat toped out at 47.i bought a just encase rear deck box nice.i would look in to one as well.saves on storage up front and holds all your baits just pm me if you need to know any thing else.

Location: Otsego, MN | I was interested until I checked it out at the boat show. I did not like the looks of it. It was sitting next to a 1850 and I much preferred the looks of that boat. Something about just did not set with me. Seemed to have a nice layout though for muskie fishing. When figure eighting and releasing fish the boat allows you to be right on the water which would be nice. I was also a little Leary of the compartment latches, they seemed pretty cheap and I thought the salesman was going to break one when we were going over the boat. Just not a boat for me. |

But I wish it had a shelf on the port side to lay rods on. I simple don't understand why the glass boats have moved away from putting these in. Where does the guy in the back store his rods??? All the major Aluminum boats have a shelf and the guys love it. |

| Thanks for the responses on the boat. I'm just checking everything out currently. There are so many nice boats on the market today but you have to PAY. I currently have a 1999 Lund Pro V which has been a great boat and really enjoy it. Trying to decide if the additonal spend is worth the investment? I'll check them all out at the shows this spring.

| I looked at this boat with great interst as I feel Skeeter makes an awesome boat and was inthe market this year I ultimately went with a Ranger 1860 Angler. The main reason was the size of the front deck; especially if you put in a full windshield, was too small for my liking. I know a couple of guys who own the boat and love it and as I said earlier I think Skeeter makes a great boat so you can't go wrong getting one it just did not meet my needs. |

| I'm thinking about the 1825 / F150 4 stroke with the full windshield.
Anyone have experience with that boat?
Does it fish big enough, or do you feel cramped?
And I'm sure it's been asked before, but can a kicker be added later if need be?
I don't do much trolling right now, but don't want to limit the possibilities.
Will trolling with the 150 work well - or not so much?

It was the regional rep's demo boat, so there was a good discount in price.
I upgraded the 798 to a 998 and will be putting ipilot link on when it comes in as it is on back order until mid March. Will be selling the minimally used ipilot addon after that.

Location: Oregon, WI | Actually it was kind of a toss up between the Triton and the Skeeter. Being able to store 9'+ rods was important to me and if I'm not mistaken, only the Skeeter offers that. |

The Recon 985 holds up to 9'4" rods in the bow as does the Recon 785. I've been looking at the MX1825 as well but the one comment on here about it being a wet ride is making me think twice because I mainly fish St. Clair & it gets rough out there.

Location: Oregon, WI | All good boats. Looked at recon, didn't want a 20 footer and thought the seventeen was too small. Could be wrong but I'm not sure I could have touched the tuffy for what I paid for the skeeter, know I couldn't have touched a ranger 1860 or 619. So far the wet ride is about one of the only down falls I've seen regarding this boat, but I haven't fished or really had the chance to fish BIG water. I'm sure of one thing though, it will be night and day better than what I had before (Tracker V18 Tournament Special).

Are you sure that they hold up to 9' rods? The Tuffy website states 8'6". I've seen listings for used ones that states 9'. The 1890 is the one I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on but then the MX1825 came out it had me changing my mind. Was looking at a few others as well but now I'm back to thinking the 1890.

Location: Madison, WI | my guess is the 1890 will hold a 9' in the center top tubes. My 1760 said it would only hold 8' rods and my two 8'6" rods fit in the center just fine. |

Are you saying every 4 foot wave the boat took on water? I don't think that's unreasonable for a 18 foot boat. |

| I had a Lund Explorer. Spent the summer of 2012 looking at Lund, Crestliner, Recon, Alumacraft, Skeeter, and Ranger. We looked at storage, layout, and price. Yes glass boats are more money but the ride you get on the water is great. We decided on the Skeeter MX 1825. The stability of the boat in the water with people fishing and moving around in the boat is excellent. Like the back 39 inch deep deck with a hole on each side for a butt seat. I can put 6 rods in the port side up to 12 feet. The Recon has a wide center storage but I found it cumbersome to get 8'6" rods in and out. Ranger is a very good boat but could not justify the price. I took test rides in different boats and took along two rods to check the rod storage. We found the Recon would wander left and right on the water at slow speeds were as the 1825 would stay straight. The MX 1825 is the right size and right price for us. I purchased our new Skeeter from MR. Marine in Fond du lac. A dealer that will put a Mercury on your Skeeter. Went with the new Merc 150 4S. Two people in the boat and gear, the boat will do 48 MPH. Took delivery in October 2012 and have about 20 hours on her in the fall. The ride is great, plenty of room.

That's a good price. I was checking out the MX1825 at a fishing show here in Michigan back in January. It had a 150 Yamaha with the Terrova 80# with a walk-through windshield & they were asking $41,999. I told their sales guy that they were way overpriced compared to what I found online.

I've had 9' rods in my 1890 in the center tubes. A couple times. I believe they probably stick out of the tube up in the bow. I'd advise using a rod sock. |

my Tuffy 1890 back in 2007 would take 8'6" rods easily, but only on the top row. a 9'er could just barely fit but the tips would bump/bend out of the tube against the front of the boat.
as noted in the discussion linked to above, Tuffy went away from side tank rod-lockers in order to increase cockpit space. the in-wall design being used on the Skeeter 1825 is a great way to get both things: long rod capacity and open cockpit. and my experience with the guys at Skeeter Boat Center in Chippewa Falls is that they will treat you right.

Tuffy had the side rod lockers port and starboard for a few years, and they were 'sidewall' with doors that opened to the floor , not side 'tank', which was what was offered in the Renegade models, and THAT they did to open up the cockpit, hence the new boat name at the time, which was 'Osprey'. The walleye guys didn't like them, and 9' rods were not popular in the Muskie world yet. The much longer deck locker Tuffy came up with requires a bigger front deck, which Tuffy opted to do. It's been popular as an Esox Deep V.
Tuffy gets quite a few requests each year to build the Renegade style again, but not enough to bring it back. |

cool. in what ways did the configuration change?
the question was about rod lengths fitting. did the change make it any longer?
the '07 pretty much ran from edge of the deck to the bow of the boat, which is why the top-center tubes had the longest space.
i've tested a 10' surf rod in a Skeeter 1825's side locker without bumping anything. the one limitation to the design is that it relies on rod tubes, so you can only put a couple rods in there. great innovation for muskie guys, though!
