| As much as I like to stand and cast (good for tanning the back and shoulders) I also like to troll sometimes. Tell me all you deep water trollers, how can I best get my baits down in that 25-45ft range where the pigs of my waters swim?

| I would first suggest going to wire line and second ge some baits that will reall dive down like Legends,Hookers or look for some custom baits tha dive real deep...Like Wishmaster, Depthmaster, etc | |

| Legend Plows and Perchbaits have 30'+ potential. Both lure are proven big fish producers. Wire line is also a good option and will nearly double the running depth of most lures. See "Trolling the Abyss" in Musky Hunter Magazine's October/November 2001 issue. Larry Jones goes into detail about deep water trolling. | |

| A 800 spoonplug hooked up on full spool of 20lb single stand wire will take you anywhere you want to go,,, in your desired depth range by changing the amount of line you let out. For instants it takes 14-16 layers of line using a Penn 10 reel to reach 28'-30'. About 20 layers, give or lake to reach 35' and 24-26 will get you to 40', and so on. Ernies also will accomplish this at a reasonable cost as well. [8)] | |
