Subject: changing out electronics

I currently have 2 Lowrance fish finders in my boat, one up front and one on the counsel. The one up front is just a black and white older basic fish finder. The one on the counsel is older but it is color, gps, chartplotter, maybe more but thats all i use it for. My trolling motor has the transducer built in to it, its a minnkota. My question is can i take the one on the councel and put it up front and get a new one for the councel without too much trouble with re wiring? can i do it myself? if i had to bring it in about how much would it cost? Thanks for the help

What color are the plugs? What are the model numbers of each?

I did a little bit of that myself make sure the cables are long enough first. U may need some extension cables You may also need a different adaptor for the trolling motor trans. To the other unit. I just strung out the cables few extra is a lot easier than not enough. If your front ducer is in the trolling motor it may also not be compatible with the other one. And may need a different one. Just some food for thought.

I did just what you are planning, was pleasantly surprised how the minnkota transducer outperformed the original lowarance by a wide margin. I ended up getting a better transducer for the console unit with the rear mounted transducer. Not sure why lowrance would skimp on transducers while putting out such a good head piece.
