| I was wondering if a Lakewoods or Encase would be a better box to keep all your tackle, tools and leaders in. I know the Monster LakeWoods you can keep your leaders and maps in the top cover and that is nice. As well is keep all of your tools in the front pockets, not to mention extra boxes on the sides. The encase looks very nice as well, being able to see all your baits. Just wanting to get some advise, would like to pick the right one. Can you sit or stand on either or both? |

| You know Lakewood used to make great boxes. They used to have thick white wooden dividers and useful pockets all over. Now they decreased the number of pockets and changed the inserts to a white plastic that melts if you put a bulldawg against it. I don't get it. Lakewood, if there is a representative out there listening; go back to your quality old boxes with the white wooden inserts and the ton of pockets. Otherwise, continue to lose business to reputable storage box makers like Just Encase (which, by the way, makes one nice box!) |

Location: Central Wi | Hey everyone, I have had the privilege to help Bob out at the Just Encase booth this show season. I started out as just a custom but we have become great friends over time.
With all that said I think there is no comparison in a Lakewood’s box verse a Just Encase box but my opinion may be a little one sided. But these are truly great boxes. I also have interactive gallery hosted on my website that may be useful for many of you looking at Just Encase Boxes. Just send me a PM if you would like a link to it.
The Just Encase boxes have all kinds of options, and it sounds like a lot of you may be interested in a try on the top for misc storage…
I can list all of the features that truly make them better if needed!

| I have a monster lakewood that is pretty much in house storage for no longer used lures, and one of lakewoods pedistal boxes which I do like and use. Otherwise my main storage is between one big just encase and a ton of plano boxes that fit well in rod lockers. Having used both for multiple seasons I'd say for sure go with just encase. Also I wouldn't feel super comfortable standing on my lakewood for long. Just encase boxes can be made with a no slip lid specifically designed for standing and fishing on... if that helps. |

This is the same set up I am using. Just Encase is a superior product IMO. The exception is the Pedestal Pal, which is a solid product. |

| Thanks for all the feedback. One last thing I was wondering because the encase is clear, are all your baits all right when there in the sun all day? Especially your rubber baits? |

| I have never heard it called out as an issue. That being said Bob also makes boxes with a more "smoke" colored Lexan so if that it a concern to you there are ways around it... |

| Just Encase began offering tinted tops (stickers?) and extra air holes because of some issues with bait damage. This was due to excessive heat, not UV. He listened to feedback from prostaffers and early customers and offered the changes.

Location: Central Wi | Yes you guys are all correct the Polycarbonate that Just Encase uses blocks the UV specturm of light. As others have stated the boxes also have holes or vents along the top and bottom of the box. This does a great job letting water and moisture out, and also keeping air movement through the box when the boat is in motion.
You can also use tinted polycarbonate, he has a few different options for that, also all of the deck boxes have a non slip top on them. This is the same product that motels use in shower floors, so this will not be affected by moisture.
Bobs boxes are as custom as it gets, like others have stated he does a great job of listening to what you want during the design process and also provides input of both his and his pro staff eperience. These boxes have now been around for a number of years and have been holding up great! Its a great option for a tackle box, hands down! There are so many little details that go into these boxes to make them better than the rest. Talk to Bob for just 5 min and you will relize that this is the best on the market. |

Location: Sycamore, IL | Personally, I don't think that you could go wrong either way. I have used Lakewood boxes for many years with no issues.. I have a Musky Upright that has to be at least 15years old, with the black inserts, and it is still in great shape(although I don't make a habit out of standing on it!). I also have been using a tackle locker from lakewood (which is more of a hybrid box for multi-species) and have loved the versatility. That being said...I had a chance to look at the Just Encase products (again)at the Chicago show and was very impressed(again) with the quality of the build and components. I am thinking about springing for one of the smaller bait boxes that he had made up...did anyone check those out? What do ya think? |

| I use the smaller box in my rig. I like the utility of it. Great for odd ball lures for a given outting or when you just want to bring a mix of stuff in a friends boat. |

Location: Grand Forks ND | Lakewood's new boxes are now compatible with all Dawgs and do not "melt".
I believe the problem with the Dawgs is the material they are using from overseas, not so much Lakewood's fault. Who knows what kind of chemicals are in that stuff for this to happen. Put a Dawg on your motor cover and it will eat into that as well! Makes me want to sell all my Dawgs with the new plastisol, that's for sure!
By the way, my friend just bought a new Lakewood Monster and it has the map holder under the top cover. |

Location: Sycamore, IL | After a bit of thought and a few emails, I pulled the trigger and ordered one of Bob's #18188 crankbait cases...it just arrived today! So far I am pretty excited about this tackle box. It holds 48 baits(1 per slot) and has a spring that holds the lid upright while you are digging out your lures. The widest baits that I was able to get in to each slot were my baker baits (my Diesels wouldn't fit:(. It is about 7" tall so I can fit anything from a Shallowraider to a Rattle trap. The construction seems top notch and it should be a great early season box.

I had a deck extension built for my 620 that I wanted to open from the fromt, and love my pedestal box! I added a magnet bar for tools for easy access instead of having a tray to take away room from more lure storage. I have right around 350 lures in the boat between the 2 boxes. I'm one of those guys that can't decide which baits to leave home... so I just keep them all in the boat!
