"The more I learn, the more I see there is to learn."
We might ask ourselves: "What DO most fishermen have in mind when they go fish-ing?" "How DO they plan to go about catching a fish on each fishing trip?" "How does it feel to go to a body of water and NOT KNOW what steps to take to arrive at the fish?
For some of us it has been so long since there was any doubt as to what must be done to consistently catch fish, we can’t imagine what the feeling would be. Undoubtedly, it
must be little short of frightening. Probably most fishermen reduce the feeling, or face the unknown, by planning to utilize some new "hot lure," some new electronic gimmick, or some "breakthrough." Some might depend upon some new "action," "size," "color," "rattle," or odor that’s supposed to drive the fish crazy. It could be they plan to use that new "line" or "rod" claimed to change a bad fisherman into a good one. It might be that
some have checked the "charts" and found the "signs" are favorable for them on that particular day. Probably, the majority plan on "zooming" from "hot spot" to "hot spot,"
casting the "stick-ups"—each hoping he is going to do something a little bit different from the rest.
We have no way of knowing what plans are for the day, but it would be safe to say that most fishermen give some thought to what they will do, but with very few knowing
EXACTLY what they SHOULD do, and fewer still showing any degree of originality. Probably many of us would not fish very much if we did not know how weather and water conditions affected the movements of the fish. Or, that he spends most of his time in deep water, and that he uses bottom features as guides in his movements and migra-tions,
and that we must control our "depth" and "speed" on/or around these features to overcome his moods. If we did not know these things, we would probably limit our-selves
periodically to a cane pole "lounging" on the bank with live or dead bait. (And most likely choose a place far from any potentially good fishing spot.)
The one who uses "KNOWLEDGE" and who "CONTROLS" his fish-ing will arrive at the fish.
