I have never fished spring lake but am only about 1 hour north of it. Is there a particular area that is better to fish for muskie. I also have never caught a muskie and neither has my 72 year old uncle . he is why I want to go there to see if I can get him hooked up with one. Also would like to know is there a place on the lake that is geared more for bass.
Thanks!!

Esox, there are alot of shad in spring. they stack up in the north end pretty good early season which is where I have seen most of them.

I've never seen any in there. I would of thought it was way to shallow for them to survive a winter.

Shad are there. Here, last paragraph in the crappie section mentions them: http://www.ifishillinois.org/profiles/lakes/summaries/springnsum.ht... Interesting note about cannibalism in muskies.

Muskies eat everything alive! Shad, carp, shiners and panfish are very common in most place so throw your favorite lure with your trust color! I like shad and natural color for clear water, firetiger or orange for dark water and any colors in between! Black is good for start......lot of muskies on black! Some even bright color on clear water for something different and wouldnt hurt to try it on heavy musky fishing presssure.
