Does anyone know what lake this is? THere were cows, tractors, etc around the lake. The lake looked small like a big farm pond.

I am just wondering the size of the lake.

I don't know for sure, but it LOOKS like Three Mile Lake down near Creston, IA to me.

I believe it's a 600 acre lake in South Iowa. If so I fished it for bass a couple times but not since they started stocking skies. Maybe this spring when I'm turkey hunting down there I'll have to give it a try. Beautiful fish but look like they have some growing to do yet. Props to K.O. on filming in Iowa, this is the second episode filmed in the state that I'm aware of.

Nice to see that Keyes is promoting muskie fishing in some of less popular states.!

So what lake is it? Google Earth'd the two listed here and they don't appear to be either one shown in the video.

Iowa only stocks 9 lakes - has to be one of those 9 or backwaters of a stream flowing out...

Sugema is the only muskie stocked lake in Iowa I have not fished so that would be my guess.

From looking at an aerial of Sugema, it looks like that could be it. The aerial shows 2 nice landings and the one Keyes used looked like a deserted gravel road. Wonder why they didn't want to use one of those??? Probably to hide the identity of the lake?

I've tried contacting Keyes via email last year about this. No response.

Personally I think it's a south dakota lake. It looks a lot like a lake in NE Sodak that has muskies in it. I doubt any man made lake in iowa would have an island with farm impliments on it. There are a bunch of lakes in South Dakota with these types of "habitat".

Keyes can't win when it comes to locations. If he calls it "SoDak Muskies" the SD guys would all cry about their spot being exposed. If he calls it "Iowa" the Iowans cry. If he fishes in South Dakota and calls it Iowa, people cry about how he doesn't name the lake.

So does that mean they should lie and just make up a heading for there shows?
I think they would earn more respect if they were truthful and that does not mean they should say what lake or state they are in.Maybe they should have diffrent titles to there shows.I did like how they just showed up and broke the lake down and conquered it that day on there own.

I am sure they don't tell what lake they are on out of some respect to the locals. When some see/hear of certain lakes they flock to them and they quickly become overfished. Maybe they don't get kickbacks so they don't want to give away free publicity to the lakes (doubtful, but possible since it is a business). Or, maybe they simply want it to remain a mystery so people talk about it and watch the show more. I'm going with the latter. It's a fun show to watch whatever their reason is.

I actually sent the video to a local muskie fisherman here in Iowa that has fished all the lakes and he says its not any of the lakes here in Iowa. He was suggesting the Dakotas as well. He mentioned that there were several lakes up there that have started taking over farm land like that. I also email Keyes about it and got no response.

Speaking as an Iowa resident and born in South Dakota I enjoyed the episode and wasn't bothered by the title of the show. The sport continues to grow hopefully these "new" fisheries will gain interest so the muskie programs continue to expand and more lakes looked at for potential muskie fisheries. Maybe even one in your back yard.

Other shows never mention the lake or state and do just fine. I don't think Keyes owes any of us anything in terms of giving up a lake or state.

SoDak makes sense as I didn't remember a lot of those views on Sugema but it's been a few years since I've fished it. A title called farmland muskies woulda been just fine. Oh well, a fun watch regardless.

I agree.
But that doesn't mean they should just lie about it.
Either tell the truth about what state, area, lake etc.. that you are in or don't tell us at all thats fine.

South Dakota gets their muskies by trading walleye with Iowa...so regards of if the show was filmed in Iowa or South Dakota...they are technically Iowa Farmland Muskies that are stocked. No harm no foul.

LOL

A lot of the states surrounding Iowa get their muskies from Iowa. So does this mean I'm fishing for Iowa farmland muskies in Illinois, Missouri, Nedraska and South Dakota? What a joke. I have no probelm with them not saying where they were fishing but intentionally deceiving people. That is lame.

kinda funny..Keyes was blasted a few years back for filming and pretty much giving away the waters he was on that pressure hadn't come to..the locals got pretty hot about it...understandably he was only adding to the pressure...now he gets blasted for not saying the lake and maybe misleading some the state.... are the guys that are mad he said iowa when it may have been south dakota have any intention of fishing either this spring? Yah, he caught some low to upper 30s.... wow. the parking lot will be jammed for that type of fishery....lol....my guess it was Linn..... go get em guys!

Most of the rude, thoughtless, or mean spirited guest posts are from folks who are registered. Amazing how bold people are when they think they are hiding behind a monitor. Reminds me of what happens to a perfectly normal, reasonable person when they climb on to a Jet Ski. You wouldn't think it possible for a human brain to fall out of that ittty bitty orifice.
