I've got a '87 tuffy Rampage tiller with a limited amount of space to mount a puck. I've been lookin at the "let's see your rigs" thread to see where/how guys rig em. My question is, how much space do they need to pick up signal? if i put it up on the bow will my trolling motor and head unit be in the way? am i better off putting it up on a pole?

No that stuff won't be in the way. I know a guy who mounted his under the lid of his back compartment and it worked fine. You should keep it 2-3 ft away from your graph unit if possible.

Just about anywhere they operate off of multiple satellites. But of couse the more satellites it can pick up on the more accurate your location water speed and other data will be. try to keep it dry. I used a VHF antenna mount because my lowrance threaded right on and screwed it down. Mine is also mounted up front on a small triangle of the bow next to the navi. lights. Aim it towards the sky. Also try not to put it in a area that anyone will use it for a quick grip or pull on it.

Thanks for the info and that link. Never thought of puck position/ transducer location like that.
