| As previously announced in another thread, the Milwaukee area based Muskellunge Club of Wisconsin (MCW - http://www.muskiewi.org) - celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2013 - is proud to have been a part of an exciting stocking effort on both Delevan and Okauchee Lakes this past November. This is the first stocking MCW has been able to do since 2005 but our new MCW officers and board of directors, as well as our entire MCW membership, are anxious to keep stocking on an annual basis if possible. Stocking muskies is an expensive venture, especially when extended growth (1.5yr old - 17-22") Minnesota-strain muskies are stocked. These larger stocked muskies cost $30 each (ouch), but evidence suggests that these larger fish have a much greater survival rate when compared with other stocked muskie sizes. The Okauchee Lake muskies we stocked last November arrived just in time to be part of a 10 year Okauchee Lake study being performed by the WI DNR. Studying these particular fish will be made much easier because the DNR implanted a PIT tag (purchased by MCW) inside each fish and also fin clipped them for visual identification. If you'd like to be involved with future MCW muskie stocking efforts like this and also be part of a fishing club that focuses on having fun, then consider visiting one of our MCW meetings.
