Do you get most your fish on the bottom treble hook or the top hook?

Most of my fish have come on the rear treble,as they seem to walleye this bait a lot. I got a few t-bone style on the top and a few just took the heads to Dawgie Heaven without a hookup. I love them Dawgs and just look at how many manufacturers are adding soft plastics to their time proven designs. It must be the fluid movement.

My answer is "all the hooks" as most of the fish I've caught have inhaled them. The top hook is through the roof and at least one of the two trebles is buried in the corner of the mouth.

Front hook....on the roll, at the boat, they eat the front of the bait, and invariably get the front hook.

Just my 2 cents worth!

Ho Ho Ho!! Merry Christmas to all!!

Anon,

If you are trying to run it through the weeds, or on the bottom, why not try it? I never have, but believe that it might get where no other "jerk/rubber" bait has gone before.

One of the things I tried a few years ago was to cut all the factory hooks and rigged a dawd similar to a quick strike rig with two trebles. I used .o13 solid wire and burried the wire in the rubber body.

The lure still ran ok but because it was a pre un-weighted dawg it still had a tendancy to run deeper. However it was much more user friendly for fishing rocks.

They make a un-weighted dawg now that works fairly well over the tops of weeds. Not sure how you could make one "weedless".

Good luck,

Mark

Bulldogs, it's hard for me to imagine even missing fish w/ this bait, even though i lost several this year....
fish just seem to really inhale this bait. a 32" can fit an entire magnum in it's mouth, so my answer is,
i usually end up cutting several hooks or removing several hooks on bulldog fish. they hook fish so "well", some of my friends call magnum bulldogs "fish killers" since they seem to hook so deeply and w/ so many hooks.
i still laugh all the time when this bait comes up for discussion because of the following... recently people were talking about increasing thier hooking percentages w/ bulldogs by removing some hooks[:praise:] , so now everytime i get a new a bait, especailly something rubber, my first question is, to whomever is around is: "what hooks should i cut off before i get it wet?" it's the running joke around here.[]
