Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | hey fellas,
I'm new to the forums here but want to get some of my dads old mikey baits repainted for him. He's had them since I was a kid and actually won the muskies inc tourney years back on one of them fishing the big chip. He loves the baits but they are really showing the years. I would like to give them to him for a fathers day gift fully restored. I'm not looking for anything over the top as far a paint goes but I'm certainly willing to pay for someone to help me out. Send me a message and let me know if you can personally help me out or if you have a recommendation. Some of the "art work" on this forum is amazing and I have no idea what you guys charge for your work but I know it will put a big smile on his face to see these baits looking good again.
thanks,

| Yes, the "art work" on this forum is amazing. And, your idea of having some of your dad's old baits repainted sound like a great idea...........unless your dad loves his baits they way they are. Yes, there are some that would never want one of their old favorite baits repainted....no way....the bait has too many memories to have it repainted.
Funny, but I've known others who would be upset if someone had one of their favorite baits repainted, without first asking them. Some of those old baits that have little paint, etc. have a lot of memories and still produce.
And, there are a lot of newer baits that might be more exciting to receive as a gift.
At first I thought your father's day gift was great. But, you may want to give it some more thought.
Obviously, this forum has some of the best makers and painters of muskie lures you can find. Good luck. | |

Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | those are all very good points and I acutally asked if he had thought about repainting them back to their original colors or looking to improve them and he said he would love too but simply hasn't taken the time. He "customized" them way back when for a very specific action that certainly works for him. Thats why its not as easy as going out and buying a new version of these old baits. I would love to have one of the artists on here either paint them back to the original pattern or look to add some of their own amazing details to them. He has 3 of them and he gave me one and I would like to have all four repainted. One is a walleye pattern (his favorite), one is a perch, and one is more of a black/orange/yellow (he calls it a rainbow pattern). I hate to throw it out there like this...but since I haven't had any takers just yet... I really don't care what it costs (within reason obviously). So, please if one of you guys would help me out I would be very greatful!
Thanks again,
