Several past posts about the lake on here. Do a search and you'll get a variety of responses and opinions for different periods, more than you might see on just this post. Very nice lake, the fish are there, but very clear water and lots of follows. Open water seems to be the key early. Though there are some, not as many ciscos so not a really high fat/oily forage base so the fish don't pack on as much girth in the fall as they do in alot of the northern lakes. But for sheer aesthetics hard to beat since it has so much undeveloped shoreline due to 3M owning much of it. The fish utilize all parts of it too so always spots to fish even when it's really busy, which it is more often than I like but that seems to be the trend. The lake has suffered from years and years of a catch and kill mentality, even after the 48" min was instituted a couple years ago. Over a two year period a few years ago I knew of or heard of over a dozen 50" or better removed from the lake. Last year I witnessed a 49 and a 51 killed. It seems to me there's just not as many big fish any more, it's only 1500 acres.

I go up there every year for a week in the summer. With the clear water some fish will spook easy. I get alot of follows, and the fish turn off when they see the boat. Nice pike population with a protected slot of 24"-36". So I do catch a fair share of 30"+ pike. I love the lake and wish I could spend more time up there. Some good bass, both Largemouth, and smallies.

I spent a week on that lake last summer. Water is normally very clear, but with the hot temps the water was very dirty. It was my first time on the lake, and I caught 3 fish and lost 2 others.

Great lake as stated above.
One of those lakes that just spending the day there fishing is awesome.
We have a cabin a few miles away so I get on the lake quite a bit.
Fall is my favorite time of year.
But you won't be disappointed no matter when you spend time there.
Have Fun.

I have done good there all times of the year the bite seems to be a bit slower the last few years... but also the last couple years didn't get up there as much as I would have liked to might be my favorite lake because it not developed like many other lakes i fish
