| I see that musky mayhem has new trolling girls with a upgraded clevis and blades. I have trolled DC10's successfully by adding a 4oz weight to my bait. I don't see the need in upgrading and I am wondering if anyone has destroyed their regular dc10 trolling? |

Location: The Yahara Chain | How many hours did you troll your bucktail? The clevis will eventually get worn down so bad that it will break. The nylon washer solves this problem.
The thinner blades will eventually bend as well.
They just copied what Spanky has done on his baits. They will last longer with the changes they made.
I make my own and prefer the thinner blades for casting even though they don't last as long. I use the thicker blades when trolling. I will be adding the nylon washers to my trolling tails in the future. |

would just like to point out GlitterTails had the nylon washer first.. a year or 2 before Spanky did..

| Yes have blown up many cowgirls, jerrys girls, leaders and lures double 10's,dominatrix and many others. the clevis, blades or both break off after a few days of trolling. 4mph most are not made for trolling
thats why I and most guys trolling baldes and every one I know that fishes st clair all switched to Spankys. have tons of hours on mine no problems and are great for casting also |

Last year about 24hrs total at about 3mph. I guess if you troll them around 5mph that would put alot more stress on them and that would be where the upgraded ones would shine.
24 hours isn't much use. The charter boats on Clair will have more hours than that in two to three days. |

| Even if there were no one with the typical DCG it's still a good marketing tool. Same reason they produce Baby Girls, DSGs, Jr DCG, and Supermodels in addition to the DCG. It would be crazy not to from a strictly business standpoint. |

| I quit buying musky mayhem cowbells because almost all of my blades fell off from just casting ... sent a few back to Mr. Hoppe and he wrote me back a letter saying he is not in the business of replacing lures.
And, all blades will fall off of the Hurricane - everyone i have tried, they fall off from casting. Some within the first few hours even. |

Muskie fishing is a high friction, high impact deal and there are plenty of lures LESS durable than a bucktail that we could complain about. I'll take a thin blade that vibes hard and catches muskies for 18,000 casts over a bait that runs "okay" forever.
To answer the question of this thread indirectly: I've destroyed many baits in many different ways but I've never trolled long enough, much less with a DC10, to destroy one or even comment on this thread, for that matter. |

| I do a fair amount of trolling DCG's and Super Model's. First thing I will tell you is it does not work.. Don't do. Not worth your time...
Second thing...I have wrecked a number of baits doing it. Andy makes a ton of good points above. in addition to that its the aquiring of weeds and what not that kills your bucktail not the trolling it self. Haul 5 pounds of crap @ 3.5-6 MPH for any length of time and its going to mangle things... The use of keel weights and what not can certainly help but its not a silver bullet... |

It's amazing how people think baits should last forever. I had one guy send me a bait back after catching 8 fish and he good guyed the clear was popping. 8 FISH!!!! I took it back, gave him a new one and caught another 4 on it.
There are ways to make any bait last forever, the problem is that it would take forever to catch a fish on them! |

Location: Detroit River | The reason most clevis get worn out is because of the hollow metal beads. The hole opening on the hollow bead is rough & cuts into the clevis. Using a solid brass bead next to the clevis will prevent the clevis from wearing out & there's no need for a nylon washer. Using a nylon washer & a hollow metal bead is just a cheaper option than using a solid metal bead. |

Location: Denmark | OMI some brands are just stronger than others. I have seen clevices brake on several occasions on brand new DC's, especially on one certain Chinese made brand. Personally I prefer Spanky Baits, and Esox Custom Tackle for durability.
When I am one the water though, an excellent costumer service is nothing, quality everything. |
