| Stealth 130 florocarbon for pretty much everything. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | I use Stealth 230 or 250 (whatever John has onhand) for everything. But I rarely if ever run any kind of glider. I'm told you need wire for those.
Used to use Stealth 130 and never had a single problem with them. Just figured there was no harm in going has heavy as possible when using blades and pounders.
For fly, I use Stealth 100 lb FC fly leaders. |

| I use floro on all my rods, but i don't have a dedicated jerk/glider rod. Will have one for next season though.
Why is a steal leader preferred for jerkbaits and gliders? |

Location: Chisholm, MN | Just needs to be stiff for gliders. I don't think it matters as much as people say but it seems easier to work a glider with a steel leader. People that throw them more will have better opinions on it. I dont use them often, mostly because my rods are rigged with 200# flouro leaders and I can't work a glider well with them. |

steel for jerks and glides, fluro for everything else.

| I also use Stealth leaders on most baits . Unless I'm throwing a smaller glider , but i am usually throwing 10 to 14 inch gliders nowadays and the floro seems to work great on those. I also use the 3 foot Stealth floro on all my sucker rigs and have had plenty of success using them . Keep up the great work Bette !!! |

| I use 130lb fluorocarbon, but upgraded to 150lb for 2013. I've never had an issue with most gliders I've used. I commonly use 6" Phantoms and the smaller Hell Hounds (Hell Puppy) in the spring and have no complaints. On larger models it's a complete non-issue. Don't be afraid to throw gliders on fluorocarbon. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | I use Leaders and Lures muktistrand 21 or 49 strand wire.. Fluoro can be cut. Use steel single strand for jerks, gliders, and walk the dog topwater - with no snaps and swivels. Using split rigs and leaving them on the bait. I also use solid rings on my Leaders and Lures leaders instead of a snap. NO snap are ever used - weakest part of the leader. |

Does titanium work the same as steel?
Absolutely!
Single strand AFW Tooth Proof Titanium is great.
I use 150lb mono (don't like FC, waste of money) for everything. |

Location: Contrarian Island | pretty sure Stealths are 130 and 150, not 230/250
unless you special order ? ; )
I make my own 180 lb SeaGuar flouro leaders...have made them for lots of buddys for ~10 yrs... venture to guess well over 1000 fish combined w zero failures....I use a 12" 180 fluoro w bb swivel and either a stay lock or solid ring on the bait end for everything but side to sides... side to side type lures I use a ~10", 180 lb fluoro leader with solid rings on each end..split ringed to the bait....easy to make your own but Stealths are high quality if you go the store bought way |

Location: Kodiak, AK | BNelson - 1/21/2013 9:25 AM pretty sure Stealths are 130 and 150, not 230/250 Most are, yes. But I am 110% sure that I have 200#+ leaders from John....I specifically order them. I take whatever he has in stock, so maybe 200, maybe 230, maybe 250...I don't have him special order FC just for me, so I have him use whatever he has in stock when I order. But they are not the standard 130/150. I have those too. I used to make my own, but John does such a great job and now I even have him make my fly leaders, which I've always done myself...until last year when I started having him make them. He can make them cheaper, faster and (most importantly) better than I can. |

Location: lansing, il | Interesting, pretty sure I tied Jeff some custom 220# Leaders. I would probably know best since I am the one who tied them. I offer up to 200# leaders. I had some 220 from a custom project and used it to make Jeffs. We offer anywhere from 40# up to 200#. I really dont recommend using anything under 100# for Muskies.
To the original question, 130# Fluoro is probably the most popular and widely used leader we make. You can get away with throwing about 80-90% of lures out there. Topwaters I would recommend using a Solid wire leader. Some Gliders and Jerkbaits also would require a Solid wire. Smaller more finicky Lures I would go to a thinner multi strand wire. We offer a 49 Strand Leader that works great with smaller lures. Or you can go with our Thomas Hybryid which is 80# Fluoro but we incorporated a section of wire to help prevent bite offs. I personally wouldnt recommend Titanium for anything.
Thanks for the kind words and support everyone..... Looks like Musky Dom is off his meds again. |

Location: Northern New Jersey | i have been using 130lb fluro for most everything, but have been reading a lot about people using straight wire with solid rings for glide baits so i think im gunna give that a go this year. i never had a problem with hang ups on my glides with fluoro once i got my cadence down, but straight steel sounds like a good option |

| Make your own. Simple and cheaper. Can do it for half the cost of a stealth. |

Location: lansing, il | Very true on the cheaper end. That is one reason we sell everything you need to make your own as well. If you go thru a ton of leaders every year your probably better off going that route. The problem is when you begin sell a product there is overhead involved thus driving up the price. Taxes, Insurance, Packaging, Shop overhead, etc etc etc. |

| John,
I've been using your leaders for the last 7yrs. I've never had one fail. It's a great quality product. You've given me great prices at the Chi-show, where I stock up every year, and I appreciate it! I think I cleaned you out of the 200# this year at the show.
Keep on keeping on.

Location: Pewaukee, WI | Another vote for Stealth! I have used his 60 lb. leaders and the heavier 150 lb. type and have caught numerous pike and musky on them. They have behaved flawlessly for me. His heavy leaders are all I use on any jerk or glide bait. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Fluorocarbon is all I use now unless fishing in the local river. 180 lb fluorocarbon works very well for most baits. I do use 100 for some smaller baits but most small baits still run (and catch fish) with the 180. I have had a 9 fish day on a 180 lb leader with 4.5" SS Shads... |

| I love the Stealth leaders. |
|

|
| you can make your own for a total cost of about $1.50 each leader.
bb swivel, fluoro, stay lock, a couple crimps. the biggest cost is the crimping tool.
once you have that you are set for years. with some charging $15.99 for 2 leaders you'll be money ahead after 4 or 5 leaders. |

| Nothing against Stealth, John has his following for a reason, but I like the wind-on system better. It requries an upfront investment in that you need Flouro Coil, Hollow Ace, the Needles, and hardware, but it lets you make a truly custom leader for your needs. There is, IMO, no better leader for Bucktails and Gliders. (2 different setups)
