signature on lures

I tried envirotex and it works great. Good, hard and glossy coating. But up to now I used a feltpen (those waterproof ones) to sign my lures. At first nothing happened to the signature but after a while it srated to get smeared from the epoxy flowing down the lure. How can I prevent this? Is there a different ink that doesn't react with envirotex?

You might want to try one the pens that are meant for writing on photo's. I haven't tried them with envirotex but they sure work great in other areas.

you mean clear spray paint? I put some thin layer of epoxy glue over it now and I will try that this evening. I hope that helps.

You can lightly spray clear paint over the ink. Then clearcoat. This is what I have done and it seems to work.

Make sure the ink is TOTALLY dry before you spray the clear over it. (maybe a day) then spray the clear. Once again, make sure the paint is TOTALLY dry before you Envirotex. Envirotex and wet paint do not get along to good.

Take you time, you have until spring!

Divani
I had the same problem, tried the clear paint and the paint made it run also. Went to a craft store and bought a fine point paint pen for about $3. After it dries I still use the clear paint also. I think I was using a cheap clear at the time though.

Divani,
Bill is right, I too have used felt ( indelible ink) pens and have spray a "light" coat of clear over it to seal it then use envirotec. Other times I have used the feltpen and letting it dry overnight, enviroteced over it with little problem. The only problem I have is when I am very busy I don't have the time to let the ink dry. Now I use a special pen I get at Walmart that is made for such stuff and won't smear if given a half hour to dry. I will look at it and see if I can get the info from it. I know what to get but don't remeber the name of it off hand.

thanks everybody! [] I tried the trick with a very thin coat of epoxy glue (2-tom epoxy) and it works great. You don't see it after coating over it with envirotex.

thanks for the help stan, let me know when you find the name of that pen. I'll have a look around here to see if I can find it

It is a pen you can buy at almost any craft store. They come in many different colors. It has a tip alot like a felt tip pen but only with paint instead of ink. They cost about $3.00 [;)]
