Broke another Fenwick at the end of the season! (reel seats again)Should I get Fenwick to do it for free(need address, anyone?)Or have someone that is recommened replace the seat and rear cork for a charge and get it done right the second time? The 7`6"er is a great rod 9yr.old but the rear section sucks! Any help advice? I have 13 other rods, but this particular one has 100+ fish on it and its a confidence thing! Thanx Handy

I had the same problem and Fenwick sent me a new rod after I sent them mine. The new rod's reel seat is faulty, too [:((]; the reel popped out when I set the hook on a low 30"s northern pike. I really like the HMG rods but I'll probably never buy another. I don't have the Fenwick address handy but I recall I had found it through an easy internet search.

In my humble opinion, for poor folks like me the best deal out there is on the Cortland musky rods. I bought one mid-fall and found it to be an excellent rod (so far), it has an unlimited lifetime warranty and you can get one for only $85. Plus, the Cortland has a way-cool musky holograph on the blank[;)].

Handyman it is a tuff choice. I love my fenwick rods and will probably try and get them repaired if anything happens to the reel seat. Have 2 of the 7 footers, but have owned 4, busted one on the side of the boat, they replaced, reel seat came loose on the replacement and they replaced again. Now have 60 some fish on that one and 10 or so on a second one I was able to pick up cheap last winter and I would be perfectly happy to buy a 3rd if a buying opportunity comes up. I love the action for what I throw and it can cover a lot of stuff light to heavy. I say go with the repair if you love the blank.

Jeff,

If you can't get anything from Fenwick, you could try St. croix though you will have to pay for parts. they are doing a couple of mine. Also Jinky is low on cash and might be able to help you, and I'm going to call him and see if he will fix a rod of mine.
