Shawn, get some of the GO Tape. If he still has some with the prism(reflective tape) on it even better.

I run a mast planer. I go to the dollar store and buy the glow sticks. Very cheap and work great.

Glow sticks held with rubber bands. Simple enough and seem to be bright enough. Tend to grab a few here and there which keeps supply up.

Shawn, Yes I will. The nice things about the Tape is that it charges itself with a few hours of daylight. No need to use any lights, batteries, or change anything out.

I use glow stix from the party store. The kind that kids wear as a necklace. Theyre lighter and thinner and stand taller. I drill a hole into the top of your board so that you can still force the glow stick (necklace) into it snugly. itll stand up like an antena. I think I got 50 for like $7 And you get multi colors so you can more easily read which boards are which (inside mid, outside) if you systematically color your boards' glow stix/antenae

Will drilling a hole and placing the glow stick up right hinder the action of the board? How far do you drill into the board and how far in from the end?

I use Glowin outdoors tape. i can see my boards along way out no problem. No need to drill holes or mess with glow sticks. When I check for weeds or change baits i hit them with headlamp to brighten them some and it will last for hours. I have one set of boards that has had the same tape on it for 5yrs and is still bright as hell

I drill the hole directly above where the release arm attaches to the board. 1" is plenty deep just make sure the hole is small enought to be snug. And no there are no ill effects from employing this method. Been doing it for years night trolling for salmon as well as walleyes.

I have both, The ones with the reflecters are nice. I just started using them last year.
If you get by a area thats lit up from houses or street lights its harder to see boards, so i use the reflective ones so all i have to do is shine headlamp in the general area and they light up like crazy. But if you are trolling where it is totaly dark the reg. luminescent are fine and you will be able to see along ways out and they last along time. I also have them on the head of my trolling motor so its easy to see which way its pointed in the dark
