I'm considering planning a 2 or 3 day trip to fish Green Bay in 2013. I would like to go in late July or early August, but not sure if water temps will be an issue that time of year? Can anyone give some recommendations on a good guide for that area?

Dennis Radloff would be a great choice.

Unfortunately work is too busy in late September and I cannot get away during that time. Maybe when I retire in 20 years...

You can still catch muskies in July & August, but if your more into casting I would go in late July, since that is the only time frame you have.I'm sure Radloff will put you on fish!

I'll second Brett Jolly, fished with him for years. No one boats more.

Jolly has moved to Northern WI due to the decline of the Green Bay fishery and is now mainly guiding up in vilas and oneida counties now. With that said, July and August have traditionally been the worst months on Green Bay so I'd recommend a different body of water altogether unless Dennis still has a bite going in Surgeon.

I would also definitely second Kevin Pischke for Green Bay. He's an excellent guy and I've had the pleasure of fishing out of his boat on multiple occasions. He'll get you on fish! In my opinion one of the best guides out there, for the bay.

Kevin Pischke, Lay In a Line Guide Service. Top notch gear, nice sized MirroCraft with plenty of room. Great conversation and he knows the spots on the Bay.

Denny Radloff is a great one too, havent had a chance to fish with him yet.

No ifs ands or BUTTS about it... Brett Jolly, No doubt. Unfortunately, hes not there full time anymore.. Contact him on his website... Tons of knowledge, knows the bay very VERY well, and is a kind of under the radar type of guy... Catches big fish and a lot of them, but not one to brag or make it a big deal, (or make 10 videos a year for lakelink) or anything like that... I have fished with him in the passed and I will defiantly be fishing with him in the future..

I have fished with Kevin Pischke many times on GB and like stated above, he has a great boat, high end equipment and knowledge of the system to go along with it. On top of that, he is extremely organized and systematic. All the others mentioned would be good choices as well, but give Kevin a call and you will be pleased with the decision.

Other than June and early July the only bite on the bay that's left is in mid-late Sept as long as the wind doesn't blow like this past fall. As said, the fishery is still heading toward a "physical cliff" due to lack of stocking and mortality as evidenced with the PMTT and Best of Best tournament lack of results. There are still some big fish around, but with the gap in stocking and so many locals still out there trying to catch what's left it makes for some pretty thin musky soup most of the time.

Are most of these guides still primarily a trolling bite?

Actually several of the guides are cashing in on a fairly decent casting bite out there during summer on a couple spots, to the chagrin of a couple anglers who worked extremely hard to find these spots.

Such is life of a Musky fisherman. If you don't like crowds, just gotta keep movin to stay one step ahead.

Just wanted to clarify on a couple of the posts about me earlier on this thread. Yes, I have moved to Northern WI and am guiding up here. That said, I am also still guiding Green Bay full time during the peak musky periods of the first couple weeks of the season, August, and September. Those are the best periods on the Bay by far. The fall trolling bite has sucked for three years. Casting during the early and late summer months is the best way to catch big Muskies on the bay now. Things have changed out there and few are adjusting. So if you are looking to come in August you are picking a great time.

If you don't choose to fish with me out there I'd recommend Dennis Radloff or Bret Alexander

I have been Fishing with Brett Jolly for several years and plan on fishing with him for many more. I believe he knows musky fishing on the bay better than anyone. Only others I would fish with would be Alaxendaer and Radloff both I know and have fished with. All three are budies and share info daily. Becasue of this, the other guides cant compete. They try by following these guys around. They have never or will ever consitantly put the numbers of fish in the boat as these guys. IIf your going to fish the bay do it right. Call on of these guys. All are good. I now just fish with Brett because he is a down to earth guy I like to spend a day in the boat with and a beer after.
