Location: Sycamore, IL | I have had a lot of success on the old Krusher lures that got discontinued a few years back. As these are becoming harder to find for a decent price, I am looking for some alternatives. How do the newer plastic Tuff Shads compare? Would you chose something else in this style of bait?
Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Location: Ohio | I like the Tuffs they are durable, run great, and catch fish. They have a heavy rattle that I don't think the Krusher's have. I have a couple of Krushers that I don't think have ever been run I might have to reconsider. I had no idea they had a following. |

| If you liked krushers. Try MuskieTrain Loco Shads you will really like them they run about the same but are made of wood. Ive caught alot of fish on them.

| Plastic tuff shad lures are great, my #1 producer trolling. You will not be disapointed. |

| Last I checked Tuff Shad lures numbers have been destroying the other baits in the Muskies Inc annual release contest. Just started using the plastic ones end of August...they put 25 in the boat for me. I really don't care to run these small baits but...They Flat Out Catch Fish! |

| My vote is for the Baker Shads, not only are they handmade but they work great and you will be actually buying a bait from a great guy. They're also very comparable on price as well. |

Location: Sycamore, IL | Thanks for all the replys. Yes, I was thinking of the 5" versions. I've got a couple of Bakers and they run really well and have beautiful paint jobs...will definitly be getting some more. I will have to check out the muskie train baits as I am not familiar with them. I like the idea of the Tuff Shads though, because they are less expensive... I troll a lot of lakes with timber and fish cribs and hate losing really nice handmade lures...maybe I just need a better lure retriever!?! |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I cast the 5 inch tuff shads and I have great success doing so. Almost half my fish this year came on tuff shads. |

| big fan of tuff shad and have done very well with both the wood and plastic versions.. might also want to check out extreme muskie lures.. they are wood baits with true thru-wire and the 4" are $12 and the 6" are $14.. |

Frabill pole lure retrievers saves me a 100$ a day on the water, lol.
I use that one as well and it works great for shallower snags...but, when I snag up at 10+ feet down it struggles to recover the bait. I was thinking of trying one of the "plug knocker" type of retrievers...wasn't their a guy on here last year making a heavy duty lure retriever for muskie baits? |

| Toothyfishman Lure Retrievers are the ticket ! Made well and not expensive, I own two and will never fish without one, lures are expensive for me to replace, lose a Plow and not have a retriever to get it back and you now have a bad day. Made in Pa. by a Great Musky Fisherman and M.I. Member. 5 " Tuff Shads do catch fish but don't tell everyone |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I make a lure retriever for $25 +s/h. I have only lost 2 baits (bass and muskies combined) in the past 7 years. Most of the time it knocks the lure free. If not you bounce the knocker and the chains catch the hooks. I will post a picture tonight. |
