| I have a weeklong trip planned to Cass Lake with 3 other guys from work. Friends' free cabin and boat.
We have a choice between the first week of June or the first week of July. Which date would you choose? July sounds warmer, more stable- but I hear the mayflies can get bad about that time, and any walleye fishing these guys want to do may be wasted time. Never been to Cass, but I am very familiar with Leech in August. Any advice on this lake at this time would be appreciated.
All the best,

| First week in August would be better! Cass musky fishing is generally slow early, and improves as the year progresses. Of your choices, I would take July, as the walleye fishing can also be a little slow early in the year, particulary if there has been a late spring. If you do go in June, you might want to take the channel into Andrusia for better early season walleye action. | |
