Location: West of the metro, MN | I'm lookin to buy a reel for big blades, with a low gear ratio and high speed retrieve, but I don't have the cash for a Tranx. All I have found are reels that have a free spool lever. Are they easy to fish with? Is it something you get used to? |

The new Saltist HC will not brake the bank and is a good reel for Blades and Big Rubber.

Location: Chisholm, MN | If you wanna go cheaper, the regular Daiwa Saltist is also a great reel. I use mine for big blades and having to use a lever instead of a push button is not an issue for me. I do tend to back off the drag while fighting a fish instead of free spooling though with this reel. They have awesome drags. |

What's the difference between the new Saltists and the old ones?
1 - Color, new one is Black the older one blue
2 - The newer one has Auto Clutch Engagement with the handle, the older one you have to flip the lever to engage the reel.
3 - HD release spring
4 - Helicalcut Gears |
