I am going to buy a rod for throwing mag dogs. I have been using a st croix 6'9" heavy action. Any sugestions on what would work better. Thanks

I'd up the length for sure. Look at a Tackle Industries' 9' XH or a Musky Innovations 9' XH. You will be amazed at how an extra 2' of rod will help will casting, figure 8s, hook sets, and fighting fish.

I use TI 9' in XH and XXH. Prefer the XXH more for dogs but the XH is an all around great rod.

Been using an Okuma 8'6" xh for a long time. Soft tip with good backbone. You can make a long cast using this rod with magdawgs.

As noted, up the length, But any rod for mag dawgs shall do in heavy. I use an 8'6" heavy st. croix and it throws pounders fine. But not my go-to for pounders.

Just an FYI but we also just got in new 7'6" MH (1-6oz lures), XH (3-12oz lures) and XXH (up to 36oz lures) rods. Along with our current 8' and 9' rods we have a really nice selection. New rods in design right now too. Got a few 7' rods in the works as well as the new 6' Kids musky rod about to come out.
