| With the post last Friday on the proposal of the PMAA, what about the talk of a MTMO! The "Musky Tackle Manufacture Orginazation"!
The Archery Industry has the AMO. "The Archery Manufacturing Orginazation". What this group does is backs Archery Manufactures that prove that they pay there %15 - 720 Federal Excise Tax. They also educate the general public on where the %15 of the manufacture's GROSS sales are going and how it helps out the hunting resource. There are posters and flier's in many Archery shops promoting this and asking to not to patronize Archery Manufactures that do not have the AMO logo on there packaging.
All Fishing Tackle Manufactures are required to pay a quarterly Federal Excise tax of %10 from there gross sales. This generated revenue goes back to the states fishing resource.
A few years back this idea was brought up by a Musky Tackle Manufacture in northern Wisconsin, but it never really took off.
I ask,
Lure tackle Manufactures:
Would you be interested in supporting a Orginazation that would help promote that you are a legitimate Tackle Manufacture and that you are helping out the states fishing resource?
Fisherman:
Would you be more likely to support a Tackle Manufacture that is contributing back to the fishing resource? |

| We already have one - ASA (American Sportfishing Association) - this was formerly called AFTMA (American Fishing Tackle Manufacturers Association). They get alot of say where the Exise Tax goes and run the National Fishing Day - Poluted waterway cleanup - Kids hooked on fishing , not on drugs etc... The problem with them is it is mainly geared for larger companies - $700 - $800 yearly membership fee and around $1200 to attend the annual dealer show in Las Vegas.
It would be nice to have an organization for smaller manufacturers - but I cant see ASA ever giving up their control of Federal Tax money - its historically been run by a bunch of politicians and is located in Virginia - They are broken up into regional areas also - but the Midwest area is hosted in Michigan.
