| I've seen there are already a few posts on this sad news. Here is the official statement from the shop regarding the loss of our friend and founder Rollie Bessett.
We would like to let everyone know that the founder of Rollie & Helen's Musky Shop, Rollie Bessett passed away on November 9.
Rollie was a great guy who loved to hunt, fish and to just be outdoors. Rollie
was a very knowledgeable fisherman, and hunter. He won several fishing tournaments and shot a lot of big bucks. Rollie had a very kind heart, loved his family and will be missed greatly by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | I have fond Memories of Rollie. It was always a treat to stop and talk muskies with him. He always added a little extra flair and excitement to the discussions. I was even lucky enough to catch my first musky with him.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. |

| Parents had a cabin in Minocqua and got serious about Musky fishing in my early 20s right when the Musky Shop opened--was teaching school at the time and was spending the whole summer up there.
First time my 6500c3 broke went into the store about 91 or so---Rollie was there-the store was packed---he took that thing apart at the counter, found the part it needed in a box, put it back together, worked perfect, and would not take a cent for any of it.
Treated me like a well known guide !! But was just a nobody!
From that day forward bought all my stuff there---talked to him many times after that and always treated me like a king---great memories from that time period in Minocqua and the Musky Shop-
I think the Musky he was most proud of was Helens 47 incher he had mounted in the store! One day he told me the long version of how that fish was caught--he was beaming!
--Jim S. is also a great owner!! |
