I have an 80# terrova on a 690... Was out today in maybe 8-15mph winds... Didn't seem to bad on the water and the trolling motor had about as much balls as neutered cat! Couldn't go into the wind for anything! At one point I think it was blowing us backwards with the motor on 10. What is going on here?!? Am I asking to much for the terrova ? What's the problem ?

something wrong with your batteries then.. the 80 terrova should move that boat no problem... i have 80 terrova when the batteries get low or one battery is starting to go bad thats what happens to mine too.

Of course that's enough motor for the boat under the conditions you were fishing. Batteries, charge, connections, wiring, plug, fuses....start checking your system.

Are you sure its connected in 24volt config vs 12volt, take a volt meter and check voltage at plug, ran into this problem at Doc's walleye school someone said their TM was weak checked voltage 12v! reconfigured batteries and wiring 24v!

Thanks guys. I was gonna start with the connections this morning... Never thought about the batteries being bad.. I do have a 3 bank charger. I thought a 24 volt motor wouldn't work at all if it only had 12 volts?

i had the same problem with my 80# terrova and followed my wires. turned out my batteries were correct wired at 24v but there was a terminal block i didnt see that had the wires reversed there so it actually was only running on 12v. i switched it back and bingo! full power is a huge difference i more than doubled my top speed.

Had a similar experience, bad batteries were the culprit. As soon as I replaced them the motor went right back to normal. Great advice in this thread all around for this issue.
